This song, though made it popular with TN public, was a disappointment to me personally  (I've mentioned in the post in IR-SPB thread in tfmpage as well)

Awesome melody, fantastic singing and super hit song! However, I had reservations about the rhythm section of this song(some "harsh" sounds IMHO)

Top favorite to me - not sure why it didn't become a super hit with the masses - only moderately popular

#1647 dil bhAr jAnE (KSC-Mano duet, kalaignan)
Another fantastic melody - catchy as well - would have preferred someone else in place of Mano here (KSC was awesome) and also not a fan of rhythm "sounds" - lot of unpleasant sounds happening in the drum work of IR songs during this time period (i.e. from my PoV)

Looks like 'nALai enga kalyANam' did not get released in that name - songs came out later in a movie called "kadalOra kAdhal" it seems.

Regardless, none of the songs made it big among public (why not even with IRFs it appears).

Routine stuff that IR could have come up within 10-15 min, it would have possibly taken longer for the lyricist to get the words

This one is quite familiar - definitely heard this during one or more of the TN bus trips

Moving on to the next album, poovE pon poovE - after seeing the song list, I think this is Tamil version of "pappayude swantham appoos" which was a roaring hit in Malayalam.

I remember hearing these Tamil songs on buses and comparing with Malayalam ones those days...

It is a dubbed version of the ultra-popular, evergreen, original Malayalam album "Pappayude Swantham Appoos" (Fazil's movie); a terrific album of IR.  So, none was a hit in TN.  The song Poove is a familiar number (remember listening to it a couple of times on Radio), but not sure if it is a hit number.

All of Shobana's major hits are from IR (be it Tamil, Telugu or Malayalam) and yet she goes prattling like "shringaaram", "Mani-ji's creativity" etc.!

Though pappayude swantham appoos songs were extremely popular among Malayalees, it seems the songs didn't make it big in TN. So, "pass" for the Fazil movie.

During the release time of this film "Sakkarai Thevan", IR was busy composing music for Symphony.  He was unable to do the BGM for this movie.  He gave green signal to the producers to complete the BGM with KR.  Finally, KR did the BGM for this film

Many messages on 'sakkarai thEvan' to be a super hit album ( @sicmafia opines that this was a bigger hit than rAjAkumAran those days )

I believe "Anaadhai endru" is the inspiration for Mysskin-Arrol Correli's Pisaasu song 'Pogum paadhai' in terms of the song structure.
