Best Soundtrack from Maestro's Love subject Films
Re: Best Soundtrack from Maestro's Love subject Films
Sorry for joining late here. Have been silently reading all the posts and this is an absolutely wonderful thread with amazing contributions by you all. It would be better if I had voted in the beginning. After reading all nominations and the posts, theliva kuzhambi poyi irukken.
I had long decided to vote for NEPV. This is an album drenched with all possible emotions in love. What a monstrosity of a soundtrack this. I will have to erase from my memory all the wonderful posts by V_S, App & DM for their nominations and am punching my vote for NEPV.

Thanks rajkumar. Exactly this what I wanted. I would like to see each voting for different films (based on their liking, not under any pressure) not just to tie, as a representation of how each one approaches Maestro's works and how Maestro caters to all kind of listeners. Since we don't have huge number of members, I count each one of us a sample behind the entire music lovers, as we represent few other like minds who could not turn up to internet, but still love his music.

Usha ji
I agree completely that we have different styles not just in 10 year period, even in two years. I can clearly identify from the tone if it was a 1987 film or 1989 film, same way it is a 93 film or a 95 film, such is the variety and style. Also even if we break down by 10 year period, it won't do enough justice as the number of films during 80-90 is much more than 76-80 or from 90-2000 or from 2000-2010. That's the reason we collected all the films of love subject (may be we would have missed a couple here and there). Here is the link of all the films we collected so far. It is good that we recorded all the films of love subject with all your inputs.

From this list deciphering 25-30 films is a huge task, that's why we had the lengthy nomination process. Nominations is the highlight of the thread, not even the poll. If you look at app ji,s or DM's or D22_malar's listing, you could see how they derived at the nominations from that huge list. Definitely it would have been good if we broke into each decade, still the process would be same and final list of polls (5 or 6 in each decade with 80s might have a 20 poll list) might also be same. Only difference would have been each decade will have its own winner. Even now with this poll we could conclude 'Johnny' is almost winning in 80s while 16 VayathinilE is winning in 70s, so is Idhayam in 90s or NEPV in 2010s (no one voted for films in 2000s), just that we didn't have individual winners. I hope this makes sense

Voted for Azhagi - this is one of the first movies that I (think) properly understood (guess I was in 9th/10th std) - appo thaan neraya vishayam puriya aaramichathu - appo HCIRF illa but remember listening to cassettes of this movie and Bharathi on repeat for many months
wonderful movie by Parthiban exploring 'Love' in various shades - innocent fun as kids (Damakku dammakku dum), as teenagers (Oliyile Therivadhu), the confusion/attraction as adults(Paattu Solli), angst seeing his 'crush' living on the streets (Un Kuthamma).
I love all the songs in this movie and also remember it having some heart wrenching BGMs - yet another movie from post 2000 era that proves Maestro is always the KING.

Re: Best Soundtrack from Maestro's Love subject Films
I mentioned this in my earlier post and now vicks has voted for a film in 2000. Thanks vicks. This completes at-least a vote in each decade which is a very good result what we expected of this whole exercise. Yes, Azhagi is such a great film, not just in love genre, I too wanted to watch again for this exercise, but somehow could not make it. Good that you still have the impact.V_S wrote:(no one voted for films in 2000s)
