Best Soundtrack from Maestro's Love subject Films

think of Love story films with Raja's music...

I like them all.
Raja is versatile!
He has given  fun, teasing mood, romance, longing, sentiment, erotism, family fun, friendship, nostalgia  elements in 4 or 5 tracks of  Love Story theme films.

Small request - please leave out salangai oli & sindhu bhairavi.

Agreed, they had kAdhal in them (that way even every masAlA movie may have a "love track" in them).

However, these two are overwhelmingly big on the "non-love" area

salangai oli - "No end to Art" is the main theme. The unfulfilled kAdhal is important to the movie but not as important as unfulfilled dreams of making it big in dance, IMHO.

sindhu bhairavi - The adulterous love is once again a strong reflection of the "lack-of-appreciation-of-art" from his spouse Otherwise, KB even shows a happy bed-room thingy of the singer and his wife. So, the main theme could be "whimsies and fancies of a genius singer"

Also, the albums are rich in non-love stuff, a great number of them not focusing on kAdhal

* Kirathakadu - Love reforms a criminal( Mooga veenai mrugena for the thawing part and nanneelokam rammanaledhu for the stubborn, angsty youngster drifting towards crime)
* Swarnakamalam - Classic Rom-Com, Rom-Dram, embedded in the KViswanath template of being bookended by art-appreciation
* Swathi Muthyam -  Pure Love slowly burning into innocent passion

Let us bring other languages too and take it up to 100 albums and shortlist 10-15 from the 100. Geeta (Kannada) is one awesomatic album. Not seen film so can't speak about BGM. If not added, kindly add Geeta too

I also like Nerd's suggestion of voting for best song from an album. Will be short (6-7 songs at most for most albums), we can discuss every song and it'll be a superb exercise.

Thanks a lot plum, isai and baroque for adding more films. NadOdi thendral is a beautiful addition, I don't how I missed it. Now the total comes to 93. Should be good enough to start our selections. I will try to list out my selections tonight.

love story dhAn. But mostly revamped songs, which no doubt work excellently. Of course, if we are to take in all love stories the man has composed, it could go to 250 films Would it be a fine idea to stop at 100 and shortlist from there? I will have to look at all films, revisit the songs, select and unselect films from the 100 and zero it down to 10-15 from there I hope to present my cases of why I chose what film as I present my shortlist. We shall include the final shortlist for poll based on which 10-15 films appear commonly in every person's wishlist (the overwhelming favorites). I am sure 6-7 films will be common in everyone's list. The final 4-7 films can be shortlisted as we get there. What say?   

Cheeni Kum and Mella thiranthu Kadhavu are good additions which stick to the theme. Thanks app ji. There are tons of films which has love as the backdrop, like even a sigappu rOjaakkaL or ejamaan or veera, but those don't qualify as a 'strict' love story films(IMHO). Even the list we created so far has drastic variety in terms of the story, location and people (still I have doubts about some films like a 16 vayathinilE or Johnny). Still when we look upon such films, first genre/theme which strikes us should be 'love', that's the criteria.

We didn't miss plum. It was in my original list, but when we discussed, we thought it didn't 'strictly' confined to love theme, even app ji agreed. I agree it is debatable about some films listed. One best example I would like to give for pure love subject is Idhayam. None can beat that for sure
