Good catches, all. Angela was a big miss. Stares at you in the face, but you miss it because of Angela being the name, a la Angela James. But crap, I did know (bloody wrote on it here: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1s1rn35). Poovaraaghan and Rohini, good catches. But again, Poovaraghavana karuppA dhAn kAttaNumA? Rohini also appeared dark, though that can be put down to her working class background in the film.

Don't mistake me, I'm as much a Kamal fan as anyone. Just wantedly playing the Devil's advocate for fun

R C Sakthi, who was the FIRST to launch Kamal as hero in a movie, is no more

Sakthi's commercially successful movies, however, were 'dharma yudhdham' (Rajini-Sridevi-AgAya gangai- oru thanga radhaththil) & 'siRai' (Lakshmi / Rajesh / MSV).

All these days I simply assumed R C Sakthi to be of KH-age-group (because they were seen as peers as his age was hitherto unknown) 

He died at 75 and was much older than KH.

Brahman=Viruman and their backstories with 2 interpretations made the first cut(as per Tho.Pa)which had more scenes for Nallaima Naicker
but was chopped off owing to the length, Ettapan/Nallamma Naicker link was anew though just wish you didn't extend the movie parallels to bull taming 
of Virumandi/Gemini(vera aale kedaikillaiya)

Thank you Wizz. Just read the link. Now remember reading this before too. Shall check the book out. On Gemini/Virumandi   yOv why would I compare the sequences? I just meant this was a hat tip to that film on an obvious superficial plane given the direct Veerapandiya Kattabomman reference. Nallamma Naicker is the subtle link.

But yeah, I also know the story, folklore, etc. and had made a broad connection with Virumandi and Peikaaman. But the way the layers just kept coming as one pealed continuously was a revelation during this watch and was mindblowing to say the least.

On the Madan thing, no idea whatsoever. Interview pAkkala and did not connect the 2 at all.

But then, taking this ahead, the sheer narcissism in him playing God is enjoyable  especially evident here: https://t.co/Rai5souQR0 (from 2:30). The sheer showmanship of kamba suththi kAtradhu to follow "enga Deivammunnu engaLukku kAmi" is  Also how awesome is Raaja. Unless he understood every layer in the film, indha music impossible. And it would have taken him 2 sessions to discuss story/song placements and half an hour to compose them? ManushanA ivan...

(romance in the sense, the scene where anna finds kothalathevan & co angreeliy watching them, in reflection and after which, she takes him to show the sickle) that well is a bigger, square shaped well which seem to be ஊரின் பொதுக்கிணறு kinda thing. its the same well where காண்டாமணி song happens too. in that too big well only lies another small well, inside which, the original 'virumaandi' lies arrested as a god by pechiyamman(acc to the legend)

avvaLO pOga vENAm'nu thONudhu enakku. Those are all wells and contribute to the overall impact.

and one more long standing question, who exactly wrote that karumathur kaattukkulle song? and is that raja's own composition or not? and if it was picturised iam very eager to see how it was done!! we wud hav got one more like iranyan naadagam!!

that apart, the song itself, musically a superb one! a song full of many mini-songs! and tempo kinda keeps increasing in each song! whatte!!

Written by Muthulingam says database. Of course Raaja inputs'um irundhurukkum. Raaja confirm'aa wrote Sandiyare Sandiyare, Annalakshmi Annalakshmi and Kombula Poovasuthi. Unna Vida written by Kamal. michchamellAm official'a it says Muthulingam but considering foreshadowing plot, folklore, etc. kaNdippA Raaja inputs illAma irundhurukkAdhu.

Says it got subsided when film released. So nambara mAri illa. Also Raaja from his studio letting plagiarized stuff... Nevair, unless context is there like with Kanavu Kaanum Vaazhkai. Also the song not there in the film didn't make any difference. As it is, 2 lines appear. And boy they are effective enough. Rest of song picturized there as Virumandi gets hacked would've killed flow.

என்னோட நினைப்புக்கு ஏற்ற ஒளிப்பதிவாளர் கிடைக்கவில்லை. அதை நான் கமல் சாரிடம் போய் சொன்னேன். அவர் தான் பாலு மகேந்திராவை எனக்கு அறிமுகப்படுத்தி வைத்தார். இருவரும் இணைந்து பணியாற்றினோம். இன்றும் 'முள்ளும் மலரும்' பற்றி பேசுவதற்கு கமல் தான் காரணம். நான் காரணமல்ல.

ஆழ்வார்பேட்டைக்கு சென்று கமலிடம் "ஏன் இயக்குநரானோம் என்று இருக்கிறது" என புலம்பினேன். ஆனால் உதவி பண்ணுங்கள் என நான் கேட்கவில்லை. என் மீது இருந்த நம்பிக்கையில், தயாரிப்பாளரிடம் சென்று பேசினார். முக்கியமான காட்சி என்கிறார், வீம்பு பிடிக்காதீர்கள், நல்ல பையன் என்று தயாரிப்பாளரிடம் கூறினார். தயாரிப்பாளர் ஒப்புக் கொள்ளவில்லை என்றவுடன் தயாரிப்பாளரிடம் கூறிவிட்டு சத்யா ஸ்டுடியோவில் தனது பணத்தைப் போட்டு அக்காட்சியை எடுக்க காரணமாக இருந்தார்.

அன்று மட்டும் கமல் உதவி செய்யவில்லை என்றால், 'முள்ளும் மலரும்' இல்லை. அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து 'உதரிப்பூக்கள்', 'நெஞ்சத்தைக் கிள்ளாதே' என எதுவும் இருந்திருக்காது. என் வாழ்நாள் முடியும்வரை நான் கமலை மறக்க மாட்டேன். எனக்கு கிடைக்கும் பாராட்டு அனைத்திற்கு மூலதனமே கமல் தான்" என்று தெரிவித்தார்.
