Chummaa general aa pesi vechi Rs.350 per ticket (max amount) vaangi vechippaan. Nothing concrete to take away from this, abt release date

this is a proper pan India site .. i am a regular user .

Actually, I used to use this site to book movie tickets, when in Bombay. Chennai-la, it has just a couple of multiplexes covered - inox and that villivakkam one, I think, hence it's not useful for me in Chennai.
In Mumbai, it covers almost every multiplex available up to Thane, so it was pretty useful

just heard about mind boggling DTH premiere deal with Airtel for 50C.. Premiere supposedly on Jan 10, 2012 :shocked: super awesome idea.. theatre release through sharing basis.. if no MG, this will work awesomely !!

Good deal.Will help in faster recovery of costs without ay claiming refund if things go wrong.

All available,legal sources to make money should be explored.

DTH deal would mean Airtel subscribers can schedule a show of this movie on payment of Rs 30(I guess).
Will be 'Movie of the month',probably the month after release.

There would be I think a seperate satellite deal with a TV channel.

Whether this deal is true or not,what diference will it make to the theatre owner if he gets his weekly rent and share.

Theatres willl have a valid reason to complain only if they have paid MG and have only a sharing deal without rent.That doesn't seem to be the case here AFAIK.

Let us support his initiatives. I am sure the Distribution Association will see the logic in Kamal sir's moves with no MG plan & not oppose

This is the key. Not just distributors - but the beneficiaries of the current model like u-know-what-commander etc will be hesitant about the new model. Basically, when you use the current model, it is easy to get away with myth-making and false propoganda.

With D2h et al, the problem will be once the real value of their movies is known, future deals will be realistic and unlike the hyped prices that mAkkAn distributors give based on hype. That will be a total disaster for the current generation superstars.

Because D2h companies are big and cannot be brow-beaten, forced through carrot and stick etc - that will need a a)either a lot of bowing before ppl like Kalanidhi Maran b) or actually produce quality content like Kamal.
Neither of the two options would be palatable to Youth commander and co.

We usually talk about how the Northie superstars dont have the backing like tamil superstars. Partly , the reason is that they cannot manipulate the system like our guys do. MAnipulating the system is a lot more difficult when big orgs like Reliance, UTV etc are controlling theatres, distribution etc. In a way, you can see that Bollywood benefits from this with quality content.

I see Commander and all strongly working against this in the background - with the help of producer association chairman who is the father.

Kamal is sadly destined to fail with this as well - in TN, unfortunately, the savvy political stars are the ones who will win.

It is not surprising that the UTV South man is supporting this. This will change the game in a way that benefits them. While that is selfish, I'd much rather have thesee guys than the manja pai producer-distributor nexus that gives the comfort zone to the likes of Youth Commander.

Same time, all these days சொறி புடிச்ச மொண்ண நாயி Movie Kaakka was saying NO Theaters & Distributors bought or had interest to buy VR, due to high cost. If that is true, how come the whole Theaters and its Association coming ahead to fight agains VR DTH??


There are some tweets saying that Kamal let out this idea as a feeler to gauge the feedback and has now decided not to do this DTH thingi. Some says that the plan is till on but ONLY for Hindi Market.. Even Dananjay too is not sure and Sridhan thollai as usual is tweeting his guesses and hearsay things as facts!

Above all, surprisingly, many so-called Arivu jeevis on twitter are praising kamal for this, instead of bashing or making fun/pun on him!
