SS, 2 things, it is not possible to take TV out, i tried that sometimes back.

2nd thing, yes it is possible to record a good quality cam print by just placing a camera in front of tv. with many cameras available, that too with no one to watch!(unlike theater) there shud be many ppl who record the screen! but it may be easily trackable to which dth connection was used to record. and further actions.
but i guess, while online uploading is easy recipe for getting caught, still offline circulation is possible. but anyways offline circulation cant be spread to many ppl as fast and easy as online copy. Lets see what happens! Anyways, someone has to start this, coming out of theater format and creating new avenues for revenues. Vishwaroop is either a trend setter or Bali aadu. Hope the latter never happens

to record via DTH, you need a special accessory but that has to be enabled by the operator.. if it is encrypted, then recording is not possible.

secondly,

the idea of premiering it in TV 8 hrs before the theatrical release... is that a good idea??? will the fans not want to watch the movie before going for FDFS?? will it not spoil the fun for them?? i mean the rational behind that <8 hrs>?

This is NOT targeted to the fans who go to FDFS in theaters. This is intended (though it may end up being watched by other categories also) for people who will not got to theaters anyway. Also, fans will go to FDFS and other shows whether or not they have watched it in DTH.
Moreover, in Kamal's words, "TV la paathuttu theater ku poi paakkalenna enna kelunga".

1. it will kill the excitement of a fan who wants to have the first look of his idol in big screen... (idhanaala onnum nastam illai)

2. adhenna 8 hours prior?? as the theatrical shows premier at different times in different time zones... which time zone they take into acct for this 8 hrs prior TV release?? (DTH release is gonna be once for all no)

SS, each and every user's copy of the movie is individually encrypted and you can see ramdom numbers on random place of screen appearing for random seconds. That is one way. there are many ways where the user cant see the encrypted data shown on screen.

I guess eve if u combine the movie from various sources of DTH still it shud be possible to detect the source.

Athai vechikittu enna pannuvaanga, and given that DTH are actually kind of portable, eppadi kandupidippaanga, and fake addresses, aal illaa veetla dish antenna etc eppadi kandupudippanga nnu theriyaathu. we can take it as this is a starting.

I guess there is no way to 'track' the DTH connection if the user moves froma registered address to unknown place. Lets see

But the primary reason how he can make a sum as high as 50C is (my guess thaanungo!) he is releasing the film 8 hours b4 theaters. which means DTH is the 1st medium in ulaga tholaikaatchi varalaatril, to show vishwaroopam to the world! Intha point um, high amount kku oru reason aaga irunthirukka vaaipu irukkirathu!

But again, now the time zone et all come to play! AFAIK this dth is only in India. but theatrical prints has to be shown 1st in some other countries, like, gulf, malaysia etc.. lets see whos gonna be the 1st one to catch and watch the film! yep, most of the Indian DTHs cover Saarc countries, sites like DT/BW routinely upload Tksy/Airtel HD- DTH rips.
guess they will have a different encryption for premier shows unlike they employ currently.

Kamal is taking a huge risk - this time it is not in a calculated move to embrace a new technology - but in severe anger at the way he
has been treated by the theatre owner + distributor nexus. Why is it an act of retribution because Vishwaroopam is not a small budget indie movie like udaan or vennila kabadi kuzhu which can easily recover earnings on DTH/ online theater screening/netflix etc. it is a big budget movie with new auro technology which will make sense only if the fat ass viewer lands his butt on a theater seat- not by sitting in his seat @ home with a considerably inferior sound system or pc speakers. So I dont undestand this newfound love of kamal for DTH - he has probably sealed the deal first with DTH - now he is trying to arm twist the rest of the idiots with this DTH bhoot. Playing peekaboo with new technology may only help in killing it for low budget and medium budget movie makers.
