Versatile filmmaker Krishna Vamsi is in dire need of a solid hit as most of his films in the last decade turned out to be debacles. After taking a two-year break, the 57-year-old director is firmly determined to regain his lost glory with a content-driven film. Totally impressed by Marathi blockbuster Natsamrat directed by popular artist Mahesh Manjrekar, the ‘Murari’ maker has been thinking of remaking it from a long time and finally, the project is all set to go on floors.


Natsamrat will be remade in Telugu as Ranga Maarthaanda. Seasoned actors Prakash Raj and Ramya Krishnan are roped in to essay lead roles in this emotional drama and the shooting is expected to kick-off soon. Meanwhile, maestro Ilaiyaraaja will compose the tunes for this film. Prakash Raj and Krishna Vamsi have recently approached the legendary musician and their reunion pictures are doing the rounds on social media.




Vamsi and Ilaiyaraaja will be joining hands for Ranga Maarthaanda after two decades. The duo has previously worked for Anthapuram in 1998 and all the songs have turned out to become chartbusters. The veteran director is hoping that the magic repeats again.



Starring the versatile Nana Patekar in the titular role, Natsamrat is a heart-touching drama that depicts the tragic family life of a stage actor who has retired from acting but is unable to forget his fond memories of theatre.

I write replies to a number of questions in Tamil Quora. Invariably, anything that is non-science related will have some reference to Raja. That has been his impact. One maestro interviewing another. We need more such interviews.

I liked two parts of this interview a lot.

1. The place where LS talks about the fleeting joy sweeping their souls when they hear their notations come to life by a full WCM orchestra
2. The explanation by Raja on why he did not compose any more symphonies. He says that unlike the movie industry which lines up after a successful musician, following a hit, the WCM world did not. He consoled himself that he is destined to work on the land of his birth and provide joy and comfort to the people who respect him.

PS: KH needs to understand that Raja does not let down one friend to please another (Hey Ram)
