This is from a smash hit movie called 'Prema' directed by Suresh Krishna.  The same got remade in Hindi as 'Love' starring Salman and Revati

Thaayariyaadha could come under "rare" songs.  Cannot be called a "hit", though it is definitely a beautiful composition.  I am stunned to see "None are hits" when the evergreen smash-hit Aagaaya venillaave is there!  But I am sad to see some songs (in the past) exit because of "hits" classification.

Another funny song, a bumpy duet but interesting nevertheless. It was quite popular those days and public had to listen to this on buses / recording centers etc

Vaanam thodaatha megam, Paakku vethala and Paadum baktha meera were all popular and pretty regularly played on radio, back then.

Based on the feedback here and in twitter from TN-ers, I need to add 3 songs from the "chinnappadAs" album in our catalog

#1055 vAnam thodAtha mEgam (KSC solo, chinnappadAs)
A sweet KSC song (I may keep hearing it often from now on) and this is reported to be on people's playlists / on radio etc and thus a certified hit

#1056 pAkku veththala vachchukka vachchukka (KSC-MV with chorus, chinnappadAs)
I still don't care much for it but people vouch for this as a hit those days. Thus made into the catalog

#1057 pAdum bhaktha meerA (KSC solo / KSC-Mano duet - two versions, chinnappadAs)
This song sounds like an earlier IR hit number "iLam kAdhal veeNai" (for the movie veLLaippuRA onRu under AVM production). I may not listen to this many times but certified by TN-ers as a hit

With that, this album is taken care of and we can move to the next one!

This is another album not well-known to me, "dharmam vellum" A poll is definitely necessary!

Basically, I'm taking a "கறார் பேர்வழி" position in this thread to avoid anyone blaming us for false claims as to a rare song being termed a "hit".

Per TN-ers the song was frequent on radio / teakkadai etc. To me, this is now familiar and I can understand how an IR song from a Vijayakanth movie could have had decent airtime during 80's.

Another TN hit from the same movie but did not reach Kerala

Typical grAmarAjan kind of song for the late 80's and as expected had reasonable amount of popularity. I could imagine this song playing in country-side buses and tea stalls frequently those days.

One of the best preludes ever! The song had captured the hearts of so many people - including a Telugu director who chose to make a "remix" version in KJY's voiice (jOsh mEin) in his Hindi movie (with IR's music of course)!

Excellent #IR_misrA number which MR chose to picturize in an "interesting" way

Not a personal favorite (me not a fan of Mano singing a romantic number as a devotional / prayer song  ) but this was as popular as others in this album.

After that terrific dubbed album, we need to evaluate another excellent iRakkumadhi from Telugu, Indiran Chandiran. This one's popularity, though, I cannot unequivocally vouch for and we will need a poll

Ha, at last, "Devi devi" song is back in the list of "hits".

Yes, Idhayathai Thirudaathey et al. should come under Album Hits.

And that original Telugu album is like divine prasaadham for AP/Telangana!  Hope you will start a "hits" thread / append this one to add IR's other language hits, once the Tamil stuff is over.  But that itself is a long way to go.

I voted Kadhal Ragamum because this was one song I remember watching in Sun TV old song jukebox programs way back in the 90s.  Appodhu ivlo Raja worship kedaiyadhu, so only songs legit regarded as hits were played on TV, not songs that fans had developed a liking for over the years.  Yes, song has a nice bassline.  It was a somewhat so-so soundtrack compared to the other work he was doing with Kamal during this period but this one was stylish a.f.

Remember reading a story that either this song or the geethAnjali song had a bad effect on SPB's throat (during the recording of Telugu original) and he could not do the TFM versions, thus leading to Mano getting all these numbers. Quite popular those days.
