Song of the Year - 2014
Song of the Year - 2014
Since there were only three film soundtracks released (considering Oggarane, Ulavachaaru Biriyani, Un Samaiyal Araiyil as one soundtrack, even though some prefer one version over another) this year (Oggarane, Drushya and Porkalaththil Oru Poo), and Oggarane would win hands down over others there is no competition there. Still if you feel otherwise, please feel free to add 'Soundtrack of the year - 2014' poll. Please also let me know if I need to add any other song to this poll.
I have made this poll a multiple option poll for my greediness to like most of them without leaving the deserved ones If you feel single opinion poll is better, we can change it. Please let me know before you vote.

Ee Janmame Ruchi, Ulavacharu Biryani for me. Voted. And yes, Oggarane wins hands down (considering we consdier O, Ul and Un as Oggarane; a single soundtrack), which doesn't say much because the 2 songs by Kailash and Sharreth/Raaja are what salvaged Oggarane itself for me. Drushya just 2 songs (and though both were quite decent), making it a case of too few for a soundtrack. Porkalathil Oru Poo, but for one song, was a well left for me as a soundtrack. Disappointing year overall. Quite sure 2015 will make up for it. Already fag end of the year la Swappnam is coming and Jan 12 I hear Shamitabh audio is releasing. Rudhrama Devi is likely to follow soon, followed by Thaarai Thappattai. Just. Can't. Wait.

Voted for all 3 versions of indha poRappu thAn & kAtRu veLiyil!
Great songs, both, in all languages! (sabAsh to Kailash , Sharreth & IR for singing these sweeties!)

Why is Megha missing in this list? In my view the best of 2014 are songs from Megha. My #1 song is Mugilo Meghamo.

Ravi,
We are going by Audio release date and not movie release date. Megha featured in last year poll

Re: Song of the Year - 2014
Nice Summary DM. I agree, not much in 2014. Hoping three biggies in 2015; Rudrama Devi, Shamithabh and Thaara Thappattai.
App sir,
Nice selections! I too would have voted for the same. Initially I too voted for around 10 songs, but somehow restricted my fingers to one song, which is way too difficult. I love all four songs in Oggarane.
For record, I prefer Sharreth's version of bareyada saalenu over kaatru veLiyil. I am also so haunted by devarE hELu (Drushya).

Re: Song of the Year - 2014
My votes go only for the Telugu "ulavachaaru biriyani" songs
1. ee janmame - For novelty and Kailash kher's exuberant vocals
2. Thelisi theliyindhina - For the most peppy and youthful interludes of the year
3. Rayaleni - Shareth singing, minimalistic music with a guitar and a ruminative tune to hum.

Re: Song of the Year - 2014
My votes for all songs in Oggarane and Kaatru Veliyil just for the feel invoked by IR's rendition. Oggarane was the first version I heard and somehow felt the Kannada lyrics fitted well with the tunes overall.
Here are my favorites in Oggarane in the order listed:
1. Manadi Belagaiyite - peppy tune, lovely orch througout especially the ludes, karthik & ramya did enough justice to carry the song through
2. Ee Janumave - kailash kher's vocals and the fantastic tune
3. Bareyada Saalanu - sharreth's song and the minimalistic arrangements
4. Gaaliya Maatali - this is one pales in comparison with the other songs in the album but there is nothing to dislike about in the song, it works for me on every listen

Same pinch Rajkumar. Every song of Oggarane is a marvelous treat in terms of everything; melody, orchestration, rendition, lyrics and how it sits on the tune nicely.

Re: Song of the Year - 2014
Barayeda saalanu - Scintillating to hear sharreth sing for the first time for Raaja (released ahead of TTI).
Even stepping aside this monumental fact, the song is the "Kai veesi"(nanda lala) of 2014 - An astereotypical
cyclic melody that doesnt ever allow the listener to catch a break. The million dollar prelude that is so apt for the situation
in the movie and the backing arrangements that repeat themselves yet sound so different - picture perfect
example of how to create a soundscape that wraps the main melody in a warm envelope - giving the song, the creation
a distinct character - which is missing in modern day songs. It is not easy to set a song with a backing arrangements which are the same
and yet deliver an endearing feeling of progression. Maestro has achieved this again after "Kai veesi" and "Neeraal udal kazhuvi".
That is why I count it as the song of the year for me.
