Agreed. I posted a similar comment on one of the compilations. Would really like to see some of the rare songs, not commonly available. Also, extended versions of BGMs would be awesome too - there are too many BGM pieces cut short because the scene ends or interrupted by voices.

Edit: Keeping with the theme of this thread - I was recently watching the movie Sakkarai Panthal and discovered a wonderful BGM piece in the middle that I hadn't heard before.

Sounds pretty hopeless, sadly. The way TrendLoud is managing IR-O is not-so-good. They seem to be improving only now, when the channel has been there at least for the past 5 years.

Adding one more of such UNNOTICED Background Score snippets from Moodupani - a very SHORT barely a minute long, Violin piece, so beautiful beyond words. Vizhaluku iraitha neer-kind! IR could have utilized it at least as a prelude/interlude of a superhit song. Such a great score for such a trivial scene in the movie and also marred by dialogues: (from 49:30 to 50:12)

Malayalam song "Kadappurathoru kalyaanam" from an obscure movie SMS (2008). It is highly unfair and a pity that such GREAT compositions of IR go totally unnoticed.

A Middle-Eastern themed romantic duet with super-addictive prelude and interludes, featuring the sweet and youthful vocals of Manjari and Madhu Balakrishnan. Most probably, a wedding-based situation. Bet you cannot stop listening to it once you have heard it. And then it sticks to your mind so much that it refuses to leave (as with most pieces of IR music).

The defunct Maha2014 channel had this song. Luckily, it is still available now:

2. Excellent Chorus (as usual)
3. Breezy interludes which are free flowing (how much I miss the free flowing interludes of this era as opposed to needless harmony and cacophonous programming of modern MDs)

Of course, there is no combo that can come anywhere close to the IR-SJ-SPB combo in IFM. And this song is no exception.

Sounds like IR gave the singers a "free run" during the last rendition of the pallavi and SJ & SPB had their "competition" to outplay each other!

The song has all the fantastic IR elements (superb melody / fantastic orch with nice rhythm arrangements, strings etc.). In addition, the "intoxication" element is also added in the way instruments are played.

Well, it is up to the listener to decide if IR intended "kick" or simply "comic fun" - one will never know, as the visuals are meant to be comedy :

Well, the song appears to be a super hit (and also part of a hit movie) and the Telugu world remembers it well even after decades! There are a few on-stage performances on YT (one has SPB in audience, another has SPB Charan on stage etc.).

BTW, the song can be called a "re-work" of the pAttukku oru thalaivan song but the "chingu-chakka" elements are more aptly placed in the Telugu song, IMO. That way, this is a better version compared to the Tamil original (IIRC, the song was covered in the Gangai Amaran thread for lyrics and also in the original IR-SPB thread of tfmpage):

Most forumers perhaps know by this time that the cinematographer / producer of this movie, BR Vijayalakshmi is the daughter of the famous director of MGR-Sivaji era, BR Panthulu.

This was not something I recognized those days but learnt only after the internet.

Also, the director, BR Ravishankar too is a child of BR Panthulu (brother of BR Vijayalakshmi who did camera for a few films. I think she was classmate or collegemate of Suhasini in this trade and both worked as assistants to the celebrated Ashok Kumar who did camera for Mahendran movies).

Someone had shared a "wav" (CD quality) version of a few hundred songs of IR - I mean download link on twitter - and I copied them into a jump drive and kept playing in car for a few weeks now.

Some of the tracks are, I would say, bizarre :-)

That is because they are fantastic original classics as for as voices are concerned - but the unusually hi-res instrumental portions make me wonder where they got those tracks from. Are they from the original spool tapes or from somewhere else - even though the CD versions claimed some kind of official sanction (some don't even appear exactly same as originals, as in the case of 'orE nAL unai nAn nilAvil pArthadhu' or 'poongathavE thAzh thiRavai').

In any case, there are some fantastic audio versions, with full authenticity (as in the case of sindhu bhairavi / punnagai mannan kind of albums).

Does any insider have more information on the source of these tracks?

I am especially thrilled to have such high Q audio for 'senthAzham poovil' and 'aLLiththandha boomi' kind of songs - but not sure if those are really exact originals Embarassed

A quick note on why I listen more to HTNI (i.e. compared to NBW.)

Well, in total objective sense (i.e. in my world), both are EQUAL.

However, I cannot listen to NBW as much as HTNI in real time (i.e. on car / work / repeat etc.). I was wondering why - then the OCD thread gave me the reason for this.

NBW is emotionally more intensive (IMHO) than HTNI, which is more of a joyous experience. That way, NBW can potentially push me into melancholic mood quite often while HTNI always ends with a happy note. (Of course, the starting piece, HTNI, is in itself kind of sad - but not totally but only on some movements. OTOH, the ending piece, Do anything, is like a "day of wedding" LOL that ends in a first-night kind of way and one cannot be sad anymore LOL).

Regardless, today's drives got enriched with NBW - and that alone can showcase why IR is the best composer living on earth today - comparable only to the likes of Beethoven / Mozart (and not to any MD's doing cine-music today).

100% agreed about them both being equal! I have also listened more to HTNI compared to NBW, but never analyzed why. Am inspired to listen to them now. Of late have been listening to Swappnam a lot.
