While நான் பாடும் மௌன ராகம் கேட்கவில்லையா is the saddest song ever, ராகம் எங்கேயோ தாளம் எங்கேயோ from மெட்டி is the most depressing song ever. Like I posted elsewhere தற்கொல பண்ணிட்டு ஷாவத்தோணும்.

nAn pAdum mounaraagam - Self pity, glorifying one's sadness and sort of feel good in a perverse manner. "look at me, I am suffering artist". Obviously, not a depressing one in the sense that that very feeling of self pity is life sustaining and driving

Raagam engEyO on the other hand, stark depression, pointlessness of life, etc.

Thanks Plum for reminding Raagam Engeyo. Unable to come out of this song and Sandhakavigal, looping them both. Contrasting emotions that are amazingly conveyed in those compositions. The chorus portions in Raagam Engeyo express the sorrow so beautifully (especially charanam lines "Illam Oomai Aanatho Irul Thedi Ponatho")

Also, Brahmanandham's vocals seems to pull me back into those songs over and over, his voice invokes a deeper underlying melancholy/sorrow, something I find unique in his vocals. Has he sung any more songs for IR?
