This is what I get out of the video as well.  Also, I recall IR saying (around 28:30 minute mark in this embedded video) that up to "16 Vayadhinilae" he had to "struggle" a bit as he felt that he could not just break out in his own stride with regard to background score.  He was likely compelled to follow the structure that was in vogue those days.  So, likely during the Sivakumar hero days he had to put in a lot more for each movie.  
But, I still think he was lightning fast as always even then with regard to putting down the main ideas/tunes.

The song Uravugal Thodarkathai from Ava Appadi thaan composed by Raja in late 70's was a classic- I believe Rakesh Roshan got inspired by this song and composed "Chookar Mere man ko" from the movie Yaraana
If you compare the song and orchestration there are a lot of similarities,could be just my observation, because in those days every Bollywood composer gets inspired from Raja.

I greatly appreciate your interludes posted on youtube.  Would you mind creating a separate thread in our forum with uploads from your channel?  It will be nice to have them all consolidated in this forum.  Just a suggestion - I understand if you do not want/do not have time to do so.

Thanks for the encouragement. I used to post regularly in the top interludes thread (Page 6 onwards). Since all the regulars here were already aware of the channel, didn't want to keep posting the links.

I can definitely do that along with the tracklists if you like.
