Some low-bud movie with a TFM lyricist acting as hero (his name is Snehan).

There was this hype of IR composing a song in front of public, for this movie.
(In a temple in the city of Karur in TN).

Welcome Back Gandhi was shot within 40 days, mostly in Chennai, and on a tight budget of `3 crore despite the fact that celebrated talents like Anupam Kher and music director Ilayaraja are associated with it. “Anupam Kher was so charmed by the concept that he charged a nominal fee. Ilayaraja, too, accepted fees only for recording,” says Balakrishnan who associates the long journey from 2006 to the film’s imminent release later this month as indicative of the pains of filmmaking.

The songs on the soundtrack, not performed by the actors but simply accompanying the images, are a dime a dozen. However, the score by veteran composer Ilayaraja, another Jai Hind alumnus, cleverly plays on the film’s tradition-versus-modernity theme and Amol Gole’s cinematography makes good use of the countryside locations.

It is old news that Bala's next film will have Actor turned Director and Producer Sasikumar playing the lead role. Initially it was told that G.V.P will be composing the music for this film. However the young composer has backed from the project since he is busy with the film Pencil in which he is making his debut as a lead actor. This apparently has paved way to the much desired reunion of Raja and Bala Sources closed to the untitled flick say that the senior Raja may give a nod to work with Bala if all things goes well.

Music maestro Ilayaraja is scoring the music for the movie, which is being directed by P Vasu. Apart from Ravi and Navya, the Kannada remake of Drishyam also features Prabhu, Asha Sarath and others in the significant roles.

btw, nobody knows what happened to those handful of telugu films he already finished. (Satya Sai Baba, Thyagaraju etc)

  It requires an 'uncanny' director to ensure that the film sees the light of the day. Or else, it lies in the can!

Vasantha Kumar's Oru Oorla which happens to be Ilayaraja's 999th musical and Maareesh Kumar's Marumunai are the other two lesser known releases this week

காமெடிக்கு என்று தனி டிராக் இல்லாமல், படத்தில் நடித்த புதுமுகங்களே இயல்பாக காமெடி செய்திருக்கிறார்கள். டெங்கு காய்ச்சல் விழிப்புணர்வுக்காக கிராமத்தில் முகாமிடும் அந்த மருத்துவ பெண்மணியின் பேச்சும், அவர் பிரச்சாரம் செய்யும் விதமும் குலுங்க குலுங்க சிரிக்க வைக்கிறது.

முழுக்க முழுக்க புதுமுகங்களை வைத்துக்கொண்டு நேர்த்தியான திரைக்கதையோடு, ரசிக்குமடிபான காட்சிகளோடு உருவாகியிருக்கும் 'ஒரு ஊர்லா' பார்க்க வேண்டிய படம் தான்.
