Homeland Season Finale - It was almost over wasnt it. All the threads came to a closure etc., But Abu Nazir kills even after his death eh. Anyway the juxtaposition of Nazir's funeral with Walden's memorium followed by the blast was nice. I had slight hopes of Brody being behind all that but the creators have categorically denied it. Which makes the show far less interesting. Anyway the only reason I would watch season 3 is Saul. Carrie better have an explanation for her disappearance. Well they really did not push her after being with the world's most wanted terrorist(!) for more than a day

Take This Waltz. Watched as soon as I found it on Netflix, didn't want to miss a Williams' film. She didn't not disappoint (much).
Past the pretentious opening scene, meet-cutes, talks about "connections" "fears", I really warmed up to a couple of stretches between Williams and the other guy. You have one conversational scene and two montages - I thought they were brilliant. (There is another crazy "sexy" montage at the end too).
The subject matter is nothing new, but I liked the way it was presented. Of course, Williams makes it more interesting.

Anyone watched "This is 40"? I thought it was extremely funny!
A good DVD recommendation is "Margaret". A bit long, but quite an intense and engaging movie!

[b]AMC Slammed By 'The Shield' & 'Sons Of Anarchy' Creators After 'Walking Dead' Showrunner Glen Mazzara Leaves Series
“The Walking Dead” can’t catch a break. After losing Frank Darabont as showrunner after the first season, the show carried on with a lower budget (and a new writing staff) under the tutelage of Glen Mazzara, growing in viewership (it's now the biggest drama on TV, networks included) and, by most accounts, in quality too. Despite maintaining the same level of viewership, in fact the mid-season finale had a record high of viewers tuning in, and a fourth season renewal, the zombie show is once again without a showrunner, with Deadline reporting that Mazzara has left the show after creative differences with network AMC.
Although never quite matching the same heights as the Darabont-helmed pilot, Mazzara was able to keep the show more-or-less afloat under the reduced budget given by AMC. The network is famously stingy and combative towards its flagship programs, as “Breaking Bad” and “Mad Men” showrunners Vince Gilligan and Matthew Weiner can attest and, as Deadline notes, has a history of other showrunners quitting in frustration.
For what it’s worth, two fellow showrunners have taken to Twitter (via Deadline) to criticize the network over its treatment of the creative forces behind its programs. “The Shield” creator Shawn Ryan tweeted “AMC, WTF? Common knowledge that AMC cut ‘Breaking Bad’ shorter than it should have been. Now you have creative differences w/ biggest hit’s savior? With FX, Showtime, HBO, Starz, Cinemax, A&E, TNT and others to sell to, it’s a real question now why good show runners should sell to AMC?”
Kurt Sutter, the infamously profane creator of “Sons Of Anarchy” didn’t hold anything back when he tweeted “AMC is run by small-minded, bottom-line thinkers who have no appreciation or gratitude for the effort of its creative personnel. Time and time again we see events like what happened today with Glen Mazzara. They continue to disrespect writers, shit on their audiences and bury their network. Mazzara took the work-in-progress that was ‘Walking Dead’ and turned into a viable TV show with a future. Without him, that future is dim. Showrunners are not development executives, we’re not cookiecutter douchebags that you plug into a preexisting model. TWD will suffer. Even Zombies need consistency. ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Breaking Bad’ will be gone soon. So will AMC. I hope their f*cking stock takes a dive and the shareholders line up (Josh) Sapan, (Charles) Dolan and (Charlie) Collier and shit in their open hands. C*nts.”
So, yeah, it’s fair to say the network is taking a pretty good beating regarding its treatment of their creative staffs. Currently there’s no word on who will be taking over as showrunner for “The Walking Dead” but we’d imagine AMC is looking to get somebody named as a replacement fairly quickly.

Re: Peter thread - World music, movies, Television etc.
Some random notes on Django
#Arresting watch. Not among his best 3 for sure. I liked IB better.
#Bloodiest film since KB1
#Outrageously violent, funny, insanely entertaining
#Christoph Waltz and Morricone both were fantastic. So was Samuel J. Liked DiCaprio and foxx too. Tarantion makes an appearance too.
#Perhaps the weakest tarantinan film w.r.to dialogues
#First half was superb. The first 30 minutes especially
#Could have trimmed a few scenes.
#Some really subtle but strong social commentary
#Watch out for "You owe me $200", "what's positive", "3 dimples" <-- Really neat scenes.

Revisiting MI4 until Burj Khakifa scene. Hands down the most action oriented first half in Action-spy movies history. Certainly in the top 3 of the last decades of Bourne's/Bond's and MI's. More sooner.

The Expendables 2
Three times viewing over the weekend. First day twice (first round, watching while keeping eye on my son. Second round, properly). The climax almost brought tears to my eyes (being once a kid growing up on steady diet of action films in the 80s).

Jeff Who Lives at Home- funny in a quirky way. Duplass bros have craved their own niche of lazy sunday afternoon philms (cue Cyrus ), strictly one time watchables but highly enjoyable if languidness is your forte as a movie watcher.

The Hobbit @ 48 fps- takes some time to get used to the HFR, initially it was like watching it on TV with DNR on.
The CG production wasn't up to scratch, PJ could have gone for prosthetic makeover, least for Goblin king and Azog,
would have looked far more real. OTOH, Eagles part was jaw dropping work and Benedict's voicing Necromancer aka Sauron
P.S. peeps with motion sickness would do well to skip this

All heavyweights in Best Supporting Actor section; One to watch out for. Almost similar clash in Best Actor with the exception of Bradley Cooper for SLP.

http://www.firstpost.com/bollywood/indian-film-fraternity-celebrates-bombay-jayashrees-oscar-nomination-584880.html
The Indian film fraternity is celebrating Chennai-based Carnatic music vocalist Bombay Jayashree’s Oscar nomination for “Pi’s Lullaby” from the Life of Pi for the 85th Academy Awards, terming it an “amazing honour” for a great artist.
The song has been written, composed and sung by Jayashri for the Canadian composer Mychael Danna, who scored the music for Life Of Pi, which has got total 11 nods at the Oscar nominations that were led by Lincoln with 12 nominations. Jayshree has been cited in the best music original song category.

Ok, this is my Oscar Best picture
Did You Know: In the Oscar-nominated "Silver Linings Playbook," Pat (Bradley Cooper) and Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) go on a date at the Llanerch Diner. As they walk in, you can see an SJU billboard in the background. If this isn't reason enough to root for it for Best Picture, we don't know what is.
