Also, music maestro Ilayaraja has completed composing for the film. Apparently, a new talent Charanya Gaonkar has been roped in to sing one of the songs.

Sathyan Anthikad goes to Vidayasagar for his new movie !! A bit surprised by his last movie 'Puthiya Theerangal' was a major flop and it is possible that he had to give in to the producer's demand? It is definitely sad since Raja-Sathyan combination has given some terrific stuff. Hope they come together again soon.

London recording for rudrammA dEvi!

Music Maestro Ilayaraja is providing soundtrack for Gunasekhar's dream project Rudramadevi film and the songs are currently being recorded in London. Gunasekhar and Ilayaraja are teaming up for the first time for a film.

mEghA audio release in London

The audio of Megha starring Ashwin Kakumanu of 'Mankatha' fame and newcomer Shrushti is set to be launched in London on August 24. While Ilayaraja has scored the msuic for the film, Yuvan has sung a song 'Chellam Konjum' in the film. The film is said to be a musical and will also feature a revived version of his yester-year classic 'Putham Puthu Kaalai' a song composed for Bharathiraja's Alaigal Oivathillai.

What is this "revived"?

Putham Pudhu Kaalai was not featured in AO illayA? Hence I guess this is a revamped version of the song (like a Bate Hawa Mein Sare, Cheeni Kum and a Jaane Do Naa). But where those had a Shreya for an S Janaki, inga yaaru irukkAnu dhAn therila. Can fall flat or soar.

+1. It can be a rehash. Revival means bringing it from the dead and the original version is immortal. There was a brief re-hashed version of Putham Puthu Kaalai in Paa as well which was sung by children. It felt like a different song and didn't interfere with my listening of the original, same as the re-hashed Cheeni Kum songs which sounded way different than the original versions. It's way more tougher to achieve that when you compare with remixes from other MDs. I hope something like that is done with Putham Puthu Kalai, rather than just record it with new vocals and picturize it.

ShreyaG? SJanaki? 10 steps back. The profusely brilliant Anitha has sung it.

Also I don't think its re-orch à la Jaane Do Naa but the same notes played by highly capable musicians on their sophisticated instruments. I hope they release a voiceless version as well.

The tune sounds fantastic. The orchestration sounds richly layered. Recording sounds awesome. The strings.... absolutely heavenly... My only complaint: Choice of Yuvan!!!!!!!!!!! the tune is so warm and flowy. A singer with soft vocals is more perfect than a rustic voice like yuvan's. The song needs either a very smooth voice or an all-rounder voice like SPB. Even Karthik would have been a better choice for this, over Yuvan. 

I know I am reacting to just a 1min promo. They are just initial thoughts

Ok, I was so tantalized by the 'Mugilo megamo' teasers that I actually downloaded Itunes, created an account and purchased the entire album today. And believe me, I am generally indifferent to new releases and usually just wait for somebody to upload it to youtube to hear it. And though I love a lot of Raja's mid 90s and post 2000 works, I am not as enthusiastic a connoisseur as many others on this forum. So, having listened to both versions of mugilo a couple of times, here are my initial thoughts.

Right from the opening strings tremolo, this song is a masterpiece. The melody and orchestration is as good as any Raja classic from the 80s and to me, better than anything in NEPV. Even Yuvan does a good job and Raja sounds as fresh as he did in 'Kadhal Oviyam'. More thoughts on this and other songs soon...

Thalamuraigal is an upcoming flick directed by ace cinematographer cum director Balumahendra. The movie has recently been viewed by the censor-board committee and has been awarded a clean U certificate. They have also lent their share of appreciation for the director's work in this movie according to sources.

A Ilayaraja musical as always, the gossip about the songs are coming out positively. The movie is touted to be revolving around three generations, with the director himself enacting in a role. The audio launch of the movie is not far away, considering it to be a Balumahendra movie, this will be lighting up a buzz in K-Wood
