Jai and Nerd, nice review. I agree with most of your views. I liked the film, too gutsy, powerful and brutal film, with too much gory. As you said, how did censor did even think of giving U/A. I would even say this is the first film in TFI where we are seeing this much violence/disturbing. My wife didn't like it just because of too much violence in it. I was busy half the time closing my kids' eyes. Not a family movie for sure.

Most intriguing part of the movie was the Afghan episode. I could understand, how much Kamal would have studied/researched to bring that episode effectively. I don't think any movie (including HW) would have/has shown this much detail. May be that is also the main reason serving as a setback for Kamal. I fell for Omar's son and wife, that doctor and english teacher, beautifully shown. Even the shortest Imtiaz role, was well done. But there are many roles like Andrea, Shekhar Kapoor, etc wasn't built fully. Rahul Bose was excellent. Pooja and her brahmin dialect and Kamal calling her by names, too tired Kamal sir. Kamal's acting during Afghan episode. <spoiler>Omar wantedly telling every important thing/secret to Kashmiri, but acting-wise, we can feel he is not interested in that and alienated. If we audience could feel clearly that he is not one among them, but Omar not noticing it, seems little contrived. Even in their last meet when Omar explains about how to topple New York, Kashmiri is not interested, his face clearly shows that, but Omar could not notice that (very cinematic!). First time, I could see some artificiality in acting. Why, or am I missing something?.</spoiler>

Once the plot is revealed, it became little tedious (as the plot was usual in HW movies, save America). Climax scene and end could have been much better, given the build up to it, but felt it was a tame end. Racy action movie. Good that it had lot of humor and sarcasm. Kamal's touches in the dialogues are usual very good. Except for the opening song, musically a big let down. I loved opening titles without music with just doves fluttering noise at the background and loved the way title ended. Great visuals!. Technically brilliant! Definitely no one could even imagine such a film, in India, but when it comes to Kamal, the expectations are always higher. At-least to me, this is not Kamal sir's best, as there is not much impact/enthu to watch it again. May be after few month/years, I may watch it, as there are lot of details to grasp in the first watch, which no other film offers. Hats off Kamal sir for the brilliant effort and raising our levels of movie watching experience, as always!.
