Chorus is not necessarily an ignorant usage because I guess it is only (vocal) harmony if it is set in a different root note. And a misconception furthered by saying harmony instead of kural devadhaigal is that harmony refers only to group vocal layers when it actually refers to all harmonic layers. Maybe that is because ARR uses very predictable chords compared to IR so enlightening everyone about harmony wouldn't help his cause.

As for BR, I agree that better recording enhances the effect of vocal harmonies, but that by itself doesn't make ARR a great ARRANGER. An arranger arranges the various vocal and instrumental layers and an engineer records. If say Michael Kamen arranged for Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons recorded it superbly, it doesn't make Parsons a great arranger.

I like this better because while that's an eve teasing song and performs its job well, this shows the musicality in the song. Simply terrific stuff. The bass, the disco elements, the pep in a mostly carnatic Abhogi based song. Notice how the song ends with the template of a semi classical/keerthanai, repeating the same line thrice!

This is the first time I am posting in this forum.. But I have been reading posts in this forum and hub for many years. My mother tongue is telugu. I have been collecting IR's songs for the last 10 years from the various sources (CDs, websites, discussion forums and etc).. 

I thought it would be good to post my favorites from IR's songs in various languages. I created excel sheet from my iTunes playlists. I have three playlists for songs : IR-Telugu, IR-NonTelugu and IR-NonFilm&Instrumentals. Being a telugu guy if there is a song in Telugu, you may not find the same song in other languages if it exists in telugu unless it is of better quality than the telugu counterpart. So there will not be more than 5% duplicates. All the songs in a playlist are ordered to my preference and rating (13 - being 5/5, 12 - 4.5/5, 11 - 4/5 and so on). Since I don't understand any other south indian language other than telugu, my preference would be based on just how I feel about the song.

There are some people on the web, with the malicious agenda as to how to "discredit" IR.

Recently jaiganesh posted an old link from some ARRF yahoo group that alleged the following three things, where IR "stole credit" from those to whom it rightly belonged :

1. ooru sanam (The allegation goes thus : It was a MSV tune but IR stole ownership ; the public didn't know until SJ revealed it in a TV interview)

2. hEy rAm songs (The allegation : IR took the original tunes of L Subramaniyam and got fame, with Kamal being the co-conspirator)

3. punnagai mannan theme (The allegation : IR took claim for ARR's composition and director Suresh Krishna even told this publicly)

The funny part is, even though all those claims were thwarted then and there 5 years back, the same person started again the #3 claim on twitter recently, even lying about ignorance on the ARR interview (that he was a mere programmer).

Hub'la ellAm illa. But ARR fan groups, especially the official group, which ARR himself has access to, anga influential fan voice. So this is just not any layman fan. He's a nice friend of mine. Has met ARR and Keith Peters. Is not very close to know ARR well but ARR knows him.
