Wow! That was a triple bonanza  Apart from thumbee vaa's giant iteration, the funny thing is some songs are iterated to the extent it reaches the same source in different form   One example: aanandha raagam (panneer pushpangaL)->Sarah yE Aalam (Shiva 2006)->en nenjin raagam (Udhayam 2006)

Not sure how many heard the Telugu album "Pattudala". There is a song 'eppudoo oppukovaddhu ra otami", sung by KJY. Now, this is actually a poem written by Sirivennela. An example of Raaja tuning music to pre-written lyrics. Very well-written song around motivation, struggle, success themes. Here is the song:

I could only do an approximate line by line

In any case, it is a pretty straightforward lyric with not much sub-text. Care has been taken only how the lyric fits the tune - which is how I like it best - (i.e.) What I call Lyrical Flourish seems to be the goal of the lyricist/MD and they have succeeded very well.
Every word bounces off the tune smoothly. 

In some lines, I used approximate intended meaning rahter than exact translation of word(in these cases, the exact translation of the word is given in parantheses)

Couldnt figure a couple of lines - I leave it to Suresh to figure that one

Since Plum has done the English translation let me do the Tamil one for @dagalti I will try and keep the Tamil translation as close to Telugu as possible

Yes. The words have so much Sanskrit in them that they will easily sit in Malayalam as well

Dad was in Hyderabad for 5 days this week on a business trip. During some free time yesterday with the clients in a restaurant, talk shifted to cinema and the Telugu clients and vice-presidents of companies were readily prostrating on just the mention of IR's name. He was not called by name but rather called "Guru Gaaru" and one of the vice-presidents told dad that he is left in tears every time he watches Sri Rama Rajyam due to Raaja's music. Dad, being a non-internet mafia himself, was delighted and added his insights and bemoaned the TN buplic holding folks like Vairamuthu in equal importance. Their unequivocal response was brutal, "We haven't heard of Vairamuthu. Who is he? We only know Guru Gaaru as an unparalleled genius from TN. His music transcends language."  Expressed amazement upon coming to realize IR was nearing 40 yrs in music and 1000 movies.

Bottomline being, manavAdus = manavAdus. Tamils and all ten steps back wonly.

In short:

- Anchor starts by saying that Raja's music is such that even after 20yrs you listen to a song you want to keep on listening.
- Raja is completing 1000 films with Bala's 'Tara Tappattai' (which they mispronounce  )
- Bala wants to make it a big release function in order to celebrate Raja's 1000th movie
- Given that Raja takes up movies only if he likes the story else says no straight in the face, doing 1000 films is an unparalleled achievement

One good thing about this short clip is that they used all Raja's later day songs. 'Ramarajyam', 'Anumanaspadam' , 'Pithamagan' (Telugu ver) and 'Anthapuram'. They didn't harp on his early hits. Unlike most of the Tamil channels.
