Thanks for sharing this. 

It is quite moving to listen to these fans. Raja never gets carried away by the emotional adulations and he just grins, isn't that wonderful?
Lesser personalities would cry, hug, and do a drama.

One thing to never ask  Raja, how do you compose, yet that keeps coming up again and again.

Thanks a lot for Suresh ji sharing this wonderful event. I could not go beyond that first person's wishes. He was so honest in his compliments and wishes. From Maestro's face, I can feel Maestro understood his fan base and acknowledged him very well. When he said Maestro is his mother and this is his request, I can't stop my tears, could not continue as I am in office. Will watch it in the evening.

 Right, if he does that, it would get into his head and he will not strive harder any more. That is his idea, always tries to get as humble as possible (it is difficult to do that when you have such achievements/popularity) so that he can achieve higher. I think subconsciously, attributing things to god, is also a way of staying sane. I think, he did get moved by the blind guy's talk, but he did have the presence of mind to come up with an answer that does not sound patronizing but still logical and effective. Translating for the audience was also good. He is just an open book, no secret sauce in his music - from the mind to paper to artistes to instruments. Like it or not, authenticity guaranteed. Let cool genres/instruments be gone to the winds, the emotional impact has been made and will last for years in the minds and hearts of so many listeners. This talk is a sample. Thanks for the video.

Have to admit some of the portions are quite touching. But I also have to point out that some people need to show more maturity. I can understand them feeling emotional and stuff, but I mean, come on, that lady who kept insisting that Raja call her Kannamma? Seriously? I can't imagine how awkward it must have been for Raja. But Raja remaining unperturbed and just smiling through the whole meet and not creating a drama only increases my respect for the man. And the answer to the symphony question intrigues me.

Raaja's score for the film, Ramanujan, on the life of the saint Ramanuja, with details on his songs. I am excited because this is the first period film in Tamil he's doing after Bharathi (?) and when it says Kalyani, my nerves tingle because that had Nirpadhuve in Kalyani. IR when he handles this raga takes it to another worldly level. Expecting nothing less here.

விழாவில், வைகோ ஆற்றிய உரை, எனது வாழ்நாளில் நான் கேட்டு வியந்த ஒரு அற்புத மேடைப் பேச்சுகளில் ஒன்று! மேடையில் இருந்த சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் ரஜினிகாந்த் வாயைப் பிளந்து (நிஜமாகவே வாய் பிளந்து) கேட்டு இரசித்தார்!

விழா நிறைவில், இளையராஜாவை சந்தித்து, ஒரு பட்டுத் துண்டு அணிவித்தேன். மிகுந்த உற்சாகமான மனநிலையில் இருந்த அவர், என்னைப் பார்த்து, கருணா! நாளைக்குக் காலையில் வீட்டுக்கு வந்திடுங்க! என்று சொல்லிச் சென்றார்.

மறுநாள் காலை, அவரது வீட்டுக்கு பூங்கொத்துடன் சென்றேன். என்னை வரவேற்பரையில் அமர வைத்து விட்டு, இளையராஜா வீட்டினுள் சென்று விட்டார். அங்கு என்னைத் தவிர வேறு யாருமில்லை!

 Vaali..may his soul rest in peace .. I am also ashamed to admit that I thought many of the songs by vaali were by kannadhasan, One song that is part of our contemporary bhakti corpus - karpanai enRalum ..karchilai enRalum (it is songs that like this makes me proud of our music..oozes devotion in every syllable) . Amazed to hear it was by vaali. May be app you should do one for vaali like you did for GA.
But later years the conviction was missing in the lyrics ..probably that is how he adapted to the new times.. unlike pulamaippitthan who writes the same way even today (and whose lyrics I admire as well).
