btw, VR audio promos are 'pattai kilappu' variety! the audio is as close to virumandi class as SEL can hopefully get! kickass - am impressed!

I learnt from the performance today radio that Jazz legend Dave Brubeck passed away.
Then they broadcast an old interview of Dave and he says that he joined a prestigious music school and
was caught by a teacher playing the wrong notes (As he didnt know how to read notes then). His Principal was
about to fire him from the school when another teacher intervened and told how Dave could compose the best counterpoints
for his scores and took him under his wing. This kinda placed the importance and value of 'counterpoints' in WCM.
Immediately lifted my collar for our Raaja who is a counterpoint king of sorts.
To IRIR - sir - we need to compile a 'counterpoints' collection from all those interludes and BGMs and record them in a CD...
Next time you can slip in this CD too - just to highlight..

I am still kindof annoyed with GVM and SONY for NOT releasing the instrumental versions of the soundtracks which they had originally promised to release - compared to other albums that came from IR, in terms of quality and recording, NEPV is 10 or 100 times better - irundhaalum, makkals ask me "the music is great, but what are the singers singing ?" - namakku aala therndheduthhu CD ya kodukkaradhey periya task - idhula, ovvoru paatayum translate pannittirundha, yennoda velaya yevan paakkuradhu ?

nevertheless, the orchestration and recording quality both are so top-notch that ppl get bowled over after just one hearing!

a crude overall observation from feedback i have received so far: every woman/girl whom I have shared NEPV with, love "mudhal murai paartha gyabagam" instantly ! comments range from "thats cool", "very 'adele' ish", "sounds like sheryl crow shd have sung it" etc etc! and btw, these comments are from women in the age group 20-30 here in the mainstream urban US!

and 'saayndhu saayndhu' evokes "but for the male singer who sounds like he was on drugs, the song is so strange, there is so much in it - i dont want to describe it - but i do want to listen to it several times "! - an oboe player friend of mine called me after his first listen and told me "hmm - some nice lush orchestral arrangement in that first song" (trained musicians are not used to hyperbole, so this comment is a very positive compliment!)

imagine, an electric guitar based arrangement for 'mudhal murai' and 'pengal yendral' for instrumental versions - the album would have reached Joe Satriani / Steve Vai proportions!

My friends didn't warm up for NEPV. Raja music is a genre, it takes to get into it. I remember first time i listened to old Jazz music, I was like what the heck are these guys playing?

I am guilty of some of these comments too. Dammit .. I feel silly. So even if I hear an unknown crappy song from IR I have decided not to open my mouth about it :-)
Appreciate your efforts dear friend.. not because I want IR to be acknowledged..but I want people to realize I have good music sense :-)

People abuse rAsA on thatstamil website based on the Jeyakanthan stuff dragged by VM

Look at how this website gives title "music director disappoints his friend"

One way this is good - more people will come to know of the "chinna budhdhi" of vairam (of rejoicing on the ladAi between two lions; a typical "kazhudhaippuli" behaviour)

App - mostly the abuse is on Vairam and sadly, jayakanthan.
As one person observed there, it is a personal issue between JK and Raja. They are friends from AdhikAlam. They have the rights between them to behave like that. By talking about that in public, it is Diamond Pearl who has made himself small, if that is even possible for this poet of dimunitive stature.

And secondly, singam aRacheeRRamnu ellAm sollittu, he has exposed how JK was forced to pitchai kEttufy this Diamondu for kalyANa mandapam.

nee ennada enakku mandabam thaRRadhunu kovilla kalyANAm nadathi irundhA adhu singam. This incident, sadly, to me, shows that JK is no longer a singam.

-idhu oru nilAkkAlam (tik tik tik)
-ada machcham uLLa (chinna veedu)

(iLamaikkAlangaL, lists everybody except the director of the movie! MISSING! I've often posted in the hub that Manivannan came into the scene ONLY AFTER the release of the music and this authenticates it! It's possible R Sundarrajan, after the stupendous success of PM, was expected to do this but things didn't work out)

And, I am extremely thrilled to see that my favourite 'isai mEdaiyil' is on BOTH SIDES of the LP record (first of four on one side and last of four on the other)!

Obvious IR favourite to get "billed twice" in that EchO record
