Vinyl ("LP" record) covers speak about IR (Pictures & Details) - Thamizh

Back to 1991, few more vinyl covers...

Fazil made 'ende sooryapputhrikku' in Malayalam with Amala / Srividaya and it got dubbed into Thamizh as 'karpoora mullai'. The album has my all-time-fav song 'poongAviyam pEsum Oviyam'...





Unfortunately, it doesn't list the name of "lyricists" (possibly some unknown who translated the Malayalam lines and failed to get recognition)

idhyam is another popular album...

Kasthuri Raja, f/o Dhanush directed 'en rAsAvin manasilE' had Raj Kiran as hero and was a big success...some nice folk songs there

kalakalakkum maNiyOsai & the sivaranjani 'vA vA anbE / thenRal kAtRE' are my personal favourites from eeramAna rOjAvE...(kEyAr the director)

unnai vAzhththippAdukiREn - happened to be the "Kovaiththambi-of-Motherland-Pictures-coming-back-to-IR" movie.

I've not heard / read about it at the time of arrival and was wondering what happened to that production house that gave payaNangaL mudivadhillai, iLamaikkAlangaL, nAn pAdum pAdal, unnai nAn sandhiththEn, udhaya geetham & idhayakkOvil with rAsA before having a ladAi with him (recently MR was alleged to be a factor in that ladAi)...

Then read the "varalAru" of Kovaiththambi in the mAlai malar(?) website and understood he eventually came back to rAsA and did a movie.

Well, this 1991-er seems to be the one (Since I cannot sample the songs quickly -due to non-availability of thiraipaadal-, cannot comment on the songs...will try to listen if available on the web somewhere).

Also note : this is in the "Raja" label.

That means, the relationship with EchO was in trouble in this time period

One more movie in combo with R Sundarrajan, sAmi pOtta mudichchu...should have some good songs but nothing instantly plays in my mind

As if one obscure vetRi business is not enough, there is also this 'vetRippadigaL' by Manobala with Ramki.

This one I'll probably google right away, I'm more curious about this than the other obscure ones posted above!

Familiar with this album from, now down, thiraipadal.com. Some songs sound IR some MSV. sounds like it is not done together.

I've never heard the first song, the second one sounds familiar

The first song sounds neither rAsA nor MSV Possibly rAsA was too busy and gave the job to some team member (Arunmozhi?) to do the orch for a MSV melody. Add an Islamic devotional singer for novelty...hmmm, no great results

The second song (muththAna muththam) clearly sounds like MSV-only Even reminds some old (ninaithAlE inikkum?) song...

Third (nAnum kooda) & fourth (rettakkuruvi) clearly have some "1991 sounds" of rAsA and both are Mano songs

Average album IMHO.

Start 92, with a biggie...'ammA enRazhaikkAdha uyirillaiyE'...

Listening to kodai idi chatham - the shruthi bedhams or scale shifts in charanam - this needs a SPB but what it got a legend - but still a great song.. worthy of a R.sundhu muvee

Interesting to note that the production house was the same that made 'muLLum malarum' years age

The cassette of Bhrathan seems to have another inlay card, informing some "parisuppOtti"...look at the pictures :

GA directed "chinnavar" it seems...it had the famous 'andhiyilE vAnam' song that got featured in the doordharshan special program on IR...

Famous Malayalam director Bharathan made 'AvArampoo' around this time in Thamizh...with that pAvam-looking-nephew of Shobana, Vineeth. Nice songs there :
