Recently heard non-Indian song / music...
With the respo of driving around a 19 year old each day, I'm involuntarily set up for listening to non-Indian music
Well, while I fret and fume and complain most of the time ("don't shout along with that thing that already shouts" / "bring down the volume" etc), often I end up liking a few of them
Especially this number forced on me this morning "I'm yours" has become quite a favourite
Portions of this has similarity to the TF song "nAn thannanthanikkAttu rAjA, en thOttaththil eththanai rOjA, nAn theerAtha viLaiyAttuppiLLai, en thottilil eththanai mullai, mullai"...
This song by Jason Mraz had been very popular for a few years now...

Wonderful!. Could not believe it is V S Narasimhan, may be because I am seeing him after a long long time, mugam ellam maranthu/maari pochchu. Listening to 'Bach meets India'.
Please share more of these and thanks a lot!

Re: Recently heard non-Indian song / music...
Last night my 19 yr old wanted to me suggest some 80's song to play on spotify (or some internet radio), for a variety.
I remembered the song for which the whole college auditorium danced in festember 1985 madly (with such a strong marijuana smell / smoke filling the whole place those days)...The "Sun" magazine featured that event and titled the article something like 'boys losing self control'...
Self control, by Laura Branigan. (I'm watching the video for the first time today, on youtube) :
It was a hot favourite for all radio channels during that time frame - I'll run to tune radio australia for intl top 20 those days and this was running for weeks on the program.
I think the 'o-o-O, o-o-O' hook inspired some TFM songs...

One of my all time fav among "western" songs...
Careless whisper (George Michael)
I was dying to hear this during college days...tuning every intl station that played it on radio...later had that cassette adi-adinnu adichchified in the walkman.
Few years back, the song (and its many versions) was a regular on smooth jazz v98.7 at Detroit (before that station was sold)...

One of my all-time fav pieces arranged & conducted by Paul Mauriat...
I can emphatically say that if someone has not experienced music from 2:10 onwards of this track, they have REALLY MISSED SOMETHING IN LIFE!
(original composition by Pablo De Sarasate and the track is named Zigeunerweisen )

Skyfall title track by Adele. This is becoming my most favorite bond song next only to Goldfinger & Diamonds are Forever.
