This movie got featured in the "only-one-movie-with-IR-for-a-director" thread

The song 'dEvi sendhoorakkOlam' by SJ / JC was quite popular those days.

This VJ solo was also heard at times on radio and elsewhere. No youtube found.

Really obscure film / song (I'm listening to it for the first time  If heard on radio, I wouldn't have associated with IR - even those days).

Anyways, documenting here as part of IR-VJ list.

#45 thanakkoru sorgaththai (vAzha ninaiththAl vAzhalAm, 1977 audio / 1978 Jaishankar movie)

The movie had two other songs that were popular. SJ's "veeNai meettum kaigaLE" is evergreen (in a recent SPB interview to "Bosskey TV", Bosskey starts suggesting that veeNai song could be SPB's inspiration to MD 'vaNNam koNda veNNilavE' before SPB jumps into some indhi song as the possible inspiration).

Then there was Manorama's 'kAnAngurvikku kalyANamAm' comedy-fun song which was quite popular (both on radio and kOlAmbi loudspeakers in villages).

VJ's song does not seem to be easily found on youtube

This is like the north Indian clap-dOlak style song (qawwali?) which is outside of my aNdA - not just cup - of listening preference

Hearing "thanakkoru sorgathai" for the first time. Nice, evocative rendering by Vani.
This song must have been refurbished to another qawaali at a later date, "athi mara poo idhu" sung by SJ  in a very sensuous way .

'veLLi nilAvinilE' by JC from this album was a radio hit and other songs were hitherto unknown to me. (I came across the MV-Jency song recently when doing the Jency-28 thread)

Sweet solo from this 1978 film, that I'm hearing for the first time

Well, the SPB-PS duet 'mEghamE thoodhAga vA, azhagin ArAdhanai' was quite popular on radio (both AIR & IOKS) and was a big favorite those days. (The song is quite enjoyable even now!)

While youtube has the video of that duet, I could not find one for the VJ solo

ஆச வச்சேன் உம்மேல தான்

dappAnguththu song with Malaysia Vasudevan singing in multiple styles (narikkuRavar style, Suruli Rajan style etc).

The album's most famous song is 'manjaL nilAvukku inRu orE sugam' . That song reportedly impressed Sridhar so much that he did switch from MSV to IR for IO

OTOH, this VJ-MV song is obscure and I don't remember listening to it on radio (or elsewhere), even though the main tune is quite familiar.

mythila mentioned sometime back about this song - a female duet of VJ & SPS from that Puratchi Dasan / Rajanikanth movie. (We've earlier documented MV-VJ duet 'sugam sugamE' and VJ solo 'mayakkamA' from this album).

This song got introduced to me by raajafm.com and I've heard a few times in recent months. It got played this morning during commute also  Not a great one (especially Mano's singing kills the sweetness of the melody) but the flowing orch + VJ salvage it to some extent. 

Not so great lines (GA fellow) but they self-pat "AhA / OhO" within the song  

I don't know if this song was popular at the time of arrival (late 80's, Vijayakanth-Shobana- P Vasu, wiki claims movie was a hit).

I've heard this song for the first time from the hi-res collection that was possibly done by the "finders-keepers" group that started off with sollachcholla enna perumai.

Easily one of the worst songs ever by the KJY-VJ combo  

Both are very uncomfortable with this number. அதிலும் வாணி கிங்கு என்று சொல்வது வேடிக்கை

Add to their discomfort the ooLai sounds / falsetto (KJY is really funny there), such stuff that IR possibly forced them to make is really hilarious!

sure if you have included "vaadagai veedidhu" from paadatha theenikkal(?)- a Sivakumar film. An item number, which occasionally went to VJ, but the charanams were tuned differently(with a classical touch) took the song to a different level and recording quality good, available on you tube I think.
