Re: Cricket - FOREVER
Is it time to create separate threads for each series, atleast for the important ones?
shure..we can create threads for marquee tests involving the big 3

This is too much. How they can be so mad and cheap if a person does not know him. Poor girl.

Dhoni is now a co-owner of Sennai FC in ISL, a league perpetuated by Reliance/IMG. major shares of Sennai are owned by Ambani's niece..
media will portray this as Dhoni's Sennai love, little do they know that Dhoni has learned his lessons first hand from Seenu maama and for sure knows which side of the bread is buttered and as Ramiz would say 'a smooth operator'

was Raina's opinion sought before his test selection, don't think he will fancy broken arm or ribs
KL Rahul is a good pick, should be in 11 even if he doesn't get to open.
Kohls turning out to be a much better limited overs kaptaani than Dhoni, forget bowling out the opposition
don't remember India restricting teams for less than <300 @ home. Axe patel pelts his faster ones, shouldn't be
long before he gets caught.

Chettiar mother in court
'Individual 2' why can't SC just name him , edhu enna kumudam kis kis'a
hasn't Madras HC already cleared Srinivasan pertaining to conflict of interest filed by ACM?
Seenu Mama's kerala temple detours isn't even over yet but SuSwamy and his HDLs have already flagged their support
Referring to the panel’s report on the involvement of Individual 2 (name of a player whose identify is withheld), counsel said “the identity of individual 2 must be revealed. If individual 2 is Mr. Dhoni, it assumes relevance and importance as he is an important player associated with Chennai Super Kings or India Cements, the company whose promotee is Mr. Srinivasan. Then the same would involve a grave conflict of interest. In fact it is for this reason that identity of all the individuals may be required to be disclosed so that in terse connection and conflict of interests may be brought on record.”
Justice Thakur told Ms. Chidambaram “you argue on the assumption that your inference is correct.”
Counsel said: “It would be of serious consequences if insider information of CSK taken from a key player was being passed on by Mr. Meiyappan to bookies. The over arching influence of Mr. Srinivasan, who controls BCCI, CSK and India Cements is thus apparent.” The Bench asked her to formulate the issues for the consideration of the court. Arguments will continue on Tuesday.

Anyway why to go after Dhoni, who is in his last leg as captain/player (~4 months left). Just let him retire in peace.
And the feck was that Nohit? Pretty sure he'll not even come close to this score in test match.

Hughes!
Might get to see better design to cover the full head and the back of the necks wrt helmets methinks. And this would most likely blunt all the pre-series talk in the upcoming tour involving India.

Re: Cricket - FOREVER
Hughes's luck was just rotten to get hit flesh on that sensitive area,
changing cricket helmets to Galea types
would save batsmen from a freakish incident like this but covering the neck would severely impact
shots like sweep/pull/hook and this is as bad as banning bouncers altogether.
If anything this incident should rattle close-in fielders who usually turn their backs whenever
an attacking shot is played or Panesar type jacks against Beamer maniacs like Brett Lee.
@Kalling, Individual 2 is Badrinath, fits the bill, played for CSK/close to Guru/IC employee with stock options.
no wonder TNCA/CSK hung him out to dry to save their skin
Dhoni will back in blue as Reliance employee next IPL season after winning the worldcup in Oz.

Re: Cricket - FOREVER
Wonder what guys like Holding are thinking. He squarely targeted the head of unprotected Brian Close and had to be warned by the ump not to bowl too many bouncers in an over. He could have killed somebody.
While I am not from the "ban the bouncers" camp (and I don't watch cricket anymore anyway), this is still a shocking and tragic episode. Still can't believe a batsman actually lost his life to a cricket ball. While helmets improve, maybe it is time for batsmen to also consider taking fewer risks with the pull/hook shot. In the pre-helmet era (and batsmen like Viv Richards who batted without a helmet even before they became available), batsmen got a long way across to play the pull shot and one of the benefits of this was their head was a long way away from the ball. In this incident, Hughes basically tried to pull a ball that was angling across him towards the off stump. Probably a cut shot would have done the job. It looked as if it came into him a bit more than he expected and by the time he missed it, it was too late to take evasive action.

it's all in the percentages, his shot was very much on. just that he was through the shot before the ball could reach him.
otoh cricket family/fraternity ellam solli konjam over'a pongitomo, my harmless neighbour who barely follows the sport now
put out his good ol Narco bat only to find it nicked.
say if the said player was from ICC associate nation or even from subcontinent/WI would the response been the same?
Misbah/Cook implying that this incident had a role in their team loses ellam OTP reactions.
In the upcoming test series in OZ donno how are they
gonna break the bouncer ice, wish the first ball that gets bowled will be a bouncer and we get on with it.

This is comedy at multiple levels
I imagine what happened like this
A few weeks back in ICC Awards party
Kohli, Raina and Ashwin to Warner, Clarke etc:
"adutha mAsam test match thiruvizhAla pArungada , enga aNNan theeppoRi Dhoni epdi urasunAlE thee varudhiunnu, theechattiya kaila Endhikittu varuvAr pArung"
Dhoni mind voice: "goyyAla thiruvizhA nadandhA thAnEdA"
And that is how Dhoni opted out of first test
But fate had other plans

Re: Cricket - FOREVER
Yesterday night I went to bed when India were cruising along very well with just M Vijay trapped in front. Still we were in a strong position to draw (if not an unlikely win), but only to wake up to see that they lost. Brittle middle order. Dhawan and Pujara were also not playing to their potential. Nothing hurts more when Indians can't play spin. The same happened back in India when they were ridiculed by Monty Panesar. Nevertheless a great effort from Kohli & Vijay!

If only Dhoni was kaptanning he would have offered a draw after tea thereby saving us from yet another whitewash. OTOH given odi scheme of things after tea, Dhoni the bat would have won the game.

Ash bowled beautifully today Pissant just lacks cerebral capacity to formulate a plan. we can only hope he gets lucky.
Nohit is just wasting a batting position, we may as well play a bowler/push Che to open/Messai Murkesh to 6
