Look at the splendid logic. In reply to your blogpost dissecting lyricists' contributions by %, first he says screw the numbers, IR's was a dark era in TFM lyrics, regardless. Then in reply to dagalti, he says he has heard only 30-40 IR songs and doesn't even know if VM worked with him (  ), but he doesn't care. But, he is still very sure that IR songs had crap lyrics.

And then, wait for it...he asks if IR-Vaali combo has ever produced something like Munbe vaa after..err. claiming he knows hardly 30-40 songs of IR. ROTFLMFAO

Breathtaking stupidity, I say! Simply breathtaking.

Myth:

Fact 1 :

(KVM mAmA making SPB/SJ do a full-fledged mukkal-munagal song for MGR movie pattikkAttu ponnaiyA in 1973 i.e. 3 years before the arrival of IR in TFM scene as MD)

Fact 2 :
Other MDs too tried such genre songs for MGR (will soon feature 'idhazhE idhazhE thEn vENdum' by MSV in that SPB thread with an actress doing siNungal business that is no less to a 'nilA kAyudhu', 'nEththu rAththiri' or 'ponmEni')

Fact 3 :
All these fellows were trying but not extremely successful. It is just that whatever IR did was many times better - much like his songs for themmAngu, romance, semi-classical, fusion etc in most cases.

So, IR didn't START that culture - it was clearly his predecessors, especially for MGR, one of the all-time-popular heroes of TFM (or TN).

Let all those MSV-fan-gumbals (e.g. Amudhavan / Karigan kinds) not keep throwing such abuse stones on rAsA anymore!

They are clearly sitting inside glass houses!

Myth:
IR made an orthodox community look ugly by doing that 'vAngOnnA' song ("kEttELE ingE adhap pAththELA angE" in bathrakALi)

Though the above is not made out to be a big deal today, it was a big thing even years after the movie came out - i.e. during my college days when I've heard many hostelmates denouncing IR for that.

Well, the AIR fellows (majority from the orthodox community those days) were so upset that they banned the song from broadcasts, even though it could not be exactly classified as vulgar.

Facts:

1. It was only the 2nd movie of IR and he couldn't possibly have had that much clout - to push A C Thirulokchandar or Vaali (who himself is of the community from Srirangam) to get a scenario like that or lyrics like that which could be misunderstood.

2. Now, this is another of my recent finds while searching for SPB songs during pre-IR days
