Old Ilayaraaja Cd Released again

Vintage Rare Ilaiyaraaja in Original Audio CD Format :

Ilaiyaraaja's Rare Collection comprises of 2 volumes of Audio CDs each containing songs from 6 movies (3 in each CD).

The audio has been pressed from the original spool file 30 + years ago. It has been specifically mentioned not to add any gimmicks and to retain the warmth and feel of the 80s. Universal Music have done a great job.

On exploring the master file , it was found to the great surprise that there was one extra track hiding in Eera Vizhi Kaaviyangal [Kaanum Sandhosham - the Raaja version of Kadhal Panpaadu]
Regarding Aaradhanai , one song was found very difficult to retrieve but still it has been made part of the audio viz Jaikkum Kachi - another very rare song.

The 6 movies which come part of this volume of CDs include ;
1) Archanai Pookal
2) Urangaatha Ninaivugal
3) Eera Vizhi Kaaviyangal
4) Echil Uravugal
5) Aarathanai
6) Metti

Additionally you have a few bonus songs from select movies.
Full list of songs is mentioned in the scans attached.

Both CDs cost Rs 125/- each and have been released by Universal Music.

BTW, do they have the lyrics printed inside or something like that? (What about the singer names / lyricist names etc, are they included somewhere? )

Of course, thanks for including me in this. Maybe, just Speedpost or something to each address here would work.

If guys in US are willing to take about 50 sets of cds and if everything can be sent to one place and you can co-ordinate between yourselves to get it , we can arrange sending it.

The courier costs to the US are very high

It makes sense only if we can 50 or 100 cds. As SKR says please coordinate and then let us know

Its a set of 2 cds comprising songs from 6 movies.
Each cd costs Rs 125/- , the set costs Rs 250 /- .. so in US terms should roughly be between 5-6 $.

Skr, simply put cds are worth a whole lot more then what they are charging it for whtya transfer, sheer brilliance.all of EVK/narumana malargalin/poothu nikkuthu are my picks, these sound a whole lot warmer than the versions I had heard thus far.

It will take some effort but sending a CD to US is not costly. I remember the postage charges are around Rs.60 or 70 if you send by normal post. In case you want me to do it, I can do it.

If you can collect the names / address of folks in US who need this CD, I can then send off the CDs to those addresses. It will take around 10 days time to reach you guys. Let me know what will work. So each of you may need to pay an additional Rs.100 or so for the whole postage.

Also i beleive one of my friends couriered 10 copies of the cds to Bay Area , California and he received it in 4-5 days .. so arrangements can be made.

One of us could take a lead and have all CDs shipped to their address and transfer all the money to the noble soul who will buy those CDs from Chennai and ship it here. And then we can USPS the CDs to individual addresses and money can be PayPal/Bank Transfer-ed. (CDs + portion of internation shipping + local shipping). That way there will just be 'one' international shipping cost. I can take the lead if need be.

Great Nerd. Keep me in the loop. As you say, posting it to one US address is easy that multiple ones. Either Rajeev (skr) or I will post the CDs. We can work out the money payment modalities.
