Raja's New Albums

Jai - The sole reason for me watching the movie was to see how Jeevane song was used / picturized and lesser said about it the better. The other songs were shot quite tastefully especially Kalvane and Putham Pudhu Kaalai.

In terms of the plot (as if it had one), the movie loses it completely towards the end. It did start off OK but couldn't sustain the interest level throughout, the screenplay was patchy all along.

So ilaiyaraaja has composed one song (only 1 song) for Telugu film Evade Subramanyam. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4GBruv3oxA

The song is a rehash of Thendral Vandhu Theendumbodhu (

There was a speculation about Raaja's role in the execution of this song. Some (like me) wondered if Raaja really recorded it or if he just gave the rights to the producers so that the film's music director (Radhan) recorded it. Raaja fan Dileep just confirmed that the new song was done by Raaja himself (apparently, Radhan clarified this on facebook to Dileep).

And as is with the veteran, he knows when not to make the music intrusive.

How many of you have the Audio CD "Mandolin Srinivas plays Ilaiyaraaja's Classics" - The only project the Late Mandolin Maestro worked with The God of Music? The CD was first released by AVM and then released by Kosmic. Presently the CD is not available in stores.

Slowly falling in love with Oru Kaalathula from Kida Poosari Magudi. Lovely tune and a thoroughly enjoyable rendition by Sharreth.

Sharath should move residence to Chennai :-) Only the wise Mr Karthik who can distill lofty musical thoughts in 100 words expects every song to have a new arrangement or a genre in it. If every body is looking for a new genre to integrate into their cool sounding song, who will create those genres ? :-)

his comments are dated as much as his music appreciation approach.

The tune construction in KPM is top notch - every singer is pushed to a corner in the charanam and then there is an escape route to 
break free. It is so exciting to hear them build up the tune and destroy (in a musical sense)..
There is order and chaos in equal measure in the contours of these songs.. Definitely not for quick consumption..

Balki plans his next project

Director Balki, who last made 'Shamitabh' with Dhanush, Amitabh Bachchan and Akshara Haasan, is ready for his next. A love story, the film will have Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead.

As in the past, this film of Balki too will have music by maestro Ilayaraja. Remember the director had told many a time that he would not make movies without the Isaignani's music.

"Shooting for the film will get a kickstart in July and plans are on to release it next year," sources said. Also, there seem to be plans to and dub and release the yet untitled movie in Tamil and Telugu too.

Yeah. There's a video from a Mallu channel where Sharreth mentions him being with the director (?) during Kalaignan's soundtrack recording, around the time he was doing jingles (In Chennai most likely) if my Mallu comprehension is right.
