This song absolutely deserves the million views that youtube reports....actually even more!
With that smart Mammootty of 80's pairing with the terrific beauty called Sumalatha :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UARzukOAMsI
What's more, there's an extraordinary melody by Shyam and fantastic KSC - in her best form!

Need to complement poomAnamE with a Mohan Lal classic, with the same female.
From that fantastic Padmarajan classic called 'thoovAnaththumbigaL' - perhaps the career best movie of Sumalatha
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=us2kc2loIUk
This one is by Perumbavoor Ravindranath (Johnson did BGM for the movie).
Of course, KJY's inimitable voice adds to the enjoyment

It's better if you have any youtube playlist for them. Would love to listen to them. You could even share here one by one too.

This is another song I've recently shared on twitter. (Interesting to see oru thalai rAgam Shankar + Oorvashi on screen, didn't get a chance to watch this movie that has Lalettan).
It would be an interesting movie - considering that the songs are by Ravindran but the BGM was by M B Srinivasan.
This song used to be regularly played in buses etc in and around Palakkad those days and I even had a copy in one of those Sony/TDK cassettes.
The prelude and interludes have heavy "IR-feel". The combining of wind instruments with strings and the lovely rhythm changes are typical features of IR songs of that time period, if I'm not mistaken.
However, the more interesting thing is the AWESOME SARANAM! While the pallavi is kind of "ordinary" (i.e. by the standards of great MD's, even though the singing itself is extraordinary and the octave changes is not easy), the song goes to phenomenal levels in the saraNam. Actually, to appreciate it, one has to try singing it

I had this Karthika-fan who was both my college mate and first job mate
Had the privilege of watching that epic scene of nAyakan featuring this girl with KH (அவனை நிறுத்தச்சொல்லு) along with him in the "New" theater of Palakkad. ("New" was its name but it was horrible-old theater
)
Well, he used to talk a lot those days about this thALavattam movie of 1986 - that I missed watching in theater
(Watched on DVD a few years back - Priyadharshan movie that made it to TN as 'manasukkuL maththAppu' featuring Prabhu)
While I missed the movie those days, these songs were very close to me! Heard them countless times both involuntarily and voluntarily (from personal collection) those days
In the order of my enjoyment :
pon veeNE - serious version (visuals are nice too):
This song haunted me a couple of nights back, not leaving my head and thus spoiling my sleep for a couple of hours in the middle of that night
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7TYBOM3hNM
pon veeNE - happy version (sumAr visuals):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTi_WKbBkwQ
koottil ninnum (awesome KJY of that time period)!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZZPibkp_-4
As was typical those days, Priyadharshan used a number of relatively unknown MD's for his movies (and most of them had IR influence, IMHO).
These songs are credited to Raghu kumar - Rajamani. The movie's BGM was done by Johnson it seems.
While the visuals are above average and thus merit watching them on youtube despite video quality, IMHO, the audio quality of the above links are not that great.
Please check-out the following juke box for better audio quality:

Re: Malayalam films / music thread - മലയാള സിനിമ / സംഗീതം...
Recently met a young Malayali MS guy here who had never heard of the movie chithram
When I told him it was my favorite during bachelor days and even in recent times had a couple of revisits on the net, he immediately started browsing on his phone and was shocked to read about its BO performance those days. (When biggest hit / blockbuster movies ran for 35-50 days max. in Palakkad, this had a silver jubilee of 175 unbelievable days in that time period).
The songs are some of my favorites from the #80s_sweet_MFM , composed by Kannur Rajan (f-i-l of Sharreth)...
The movie:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THew2hCgCDs
JukeBox:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKCWpEKTlro
My most fav. is the eeran mEgham (much like IR's 70's songs, terrific mridh sounds)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6X4ByY6s_Pc
Also, pAdam pooththa kAlam, sweet melody with gata singAri and all, with the "andha nilAvaththAn" girl
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1h7f_NbLl0Q

While misra nadai songs are not quite frequent in other languages, there are quite plenty in Malayalam.
Watched "great indian kitchen" movie recently and was pleasantly surprised by a 7 beat cycle number as title song - looks like they had earlier released it on YT with some visuals from the film (song is not presented in this manner in the movie, however).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpotCersy30
The movie itself is quite interesting - I tweeted about it as "cooku without kOmALi"
Though I was getting a little bored initially (and was making fun of the scenes) the later portion was quite interesting! Must watch movie for men
There is another song in the movie that got nicely choreographed, with some interesting musical phrases as well - that too is available on YT:
