"I have Muthu Mani for the last couple of days, especially those beautiful strings and flute in the interludes, the catchy rhythm that backs the song and the amazing rendering by SPB and S Janaki. There is a phrase at the end of both the charanams where Ilaiyaraaja makes them sing differently with extra emphasis (Nilayaga in the first by Janaki and Thunaiyaga by SPB in the second). Every time I listen to that phrase, I smile because I wonder how much control Ilaiyaraaja has his with his tune and he knows that extra emphasis makes it interesting. "The pallavi and the charanam have two different flavours. The two intterludes have two different flavours. And everything sounds amazing together is as usual Ilaiyaraaja magic. The first interlude is electric guitar, sax and synth that brings the rock and roll effect while the second interlude is in folk. While the charanam starts almost like a semi-classical piece with tabla backing, half -way through Raaja switches back to the western beats. The song is picturised with the hero (Prabhu) being pranked by a group of people and the heroine (played by Meena). And SPB just slays the song like he always does "
