In our series on beautiful places around the world, we take you for a stroll on this street! It is lined by trees and the sky for most parts is hidden, leaving leafy cracks for the dappled sunlight to streak in! This street is in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Off late I have become a big fan of Bruce Lee. I've always liked him in his films but in fb there is this page run by his daughter Shannon LEE. She posts various pictures, quotes, insights and other numerous info from Bruce Lee's personal/professional life. That page has just increased my admiration for Master LEE. Will try and post some of Lee's page here in the future.

Bruce Lee in 1959. These photos were taken soon after my father arrived in Seattle. His first job there was at Ruby Chows restaurant doing everything from waiting & cleaning tables to working in the kitchen. It reminds me that it takes hard work and determination to reach our goals.

Taken in Kenya's Masai Mara National Park, show a lion cub who falls down a steep ravine. The little cub struggles but looks like it will fall further.
Other lions try to rescue the little tyke but they find the cliff too steep.
The mama lioness comes to the rescue by going down the treacherous slope and bringing her little one back up. She carries it in her mouth and then gently grooms it afterwards

Dear, meet this wonderful mumbaikar.
Qualities of an Exemplary Human being……
.Must read Exact Narration by an auto-rickshaw passenger,
Suvendu Roy of Titan Industries, who shares his inspirational encounter with a rickshawdriver in Mumbai:
One Sunday, my wife, kid, and I had to travel to Andheri from Bandra. When I waved at a passing auto rickshaw, little did I expect that this ride would be any different…I looked in front and there was a small TV. The driver had put on the Doordarshan channel. My wife and I looked at each other with disbelief and amusement. In front of me was a small first-aid box with cotton, dettol and some medicines. This was enough for me to realize that I was in a special vehicle. Then I looked round again, and discovered more – there was a radio, fire extinguisher, wall clock, calendar, and pictures and symbols of all faiths- from Islam and Christianity to Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism. There were also pictures of the heroes of 26/11- Kamte, Salaskar, Karkare and Unnikrishnan.

Chara Sands:
(~ Shared by Shutter Images )
Miniature Desert in the Freezing Cold of Siberia
Just 40 kilometers from the Kodar Glaciers in Kalar district of Trans-Baikal region, right next to the snow-capped mountains and the limitless sea of taiga spotted with blue lakes and huge ice fields, lies a bright yellow spot – the Chara Sands. This sand dune is approximately 10 kilometers long and 5 kilometers wide; some of the dunes are as high as 15 – 30 meters. The terrain here is so pronounced it almost looks like a real desert. Nowhere else in the entire tundra such large volume of loose shifting sands can be found. Against the backdrop of the cold mountains, the Chara Sands is an extraordinary sight.
Chara Sands is a truly amazing place. It’s like a real desert, but with features you won’t see anywhere else except in Trans-Baikal. Cold blue icing right next to warm yellow sand; instead of camels, a reindeer caravan treads across the sands, tended by an Evenk driver. You might stumble upon an oasis among the sand ridges where palms gave way to northern larches. The desert is surrounded by mountains covered with snow even during the summer; the dunes run into bogs or lakes.

Re: Photos - From Around the WORLD
Name: Shivdeep Waman Lande
Designation: Former SP (city), Patna
Before he was suddenly transferred, Patna city SP Shivdeep Waman Lande received an average of 300 SMSes every day, mostly from love-struck girls, some even carrying marriage proposals. On the day of his transfer, the number of SMSes crossed almost 2,000. There was more to come. The heartburn soon translated into candlelight marches and mass protests demanding the cancellation of the IPS officer's transfer.
Lande became a real life hero after an incident of attempted molestation involving a girl and three drunks in the heart of the city. The girl called him up for help (almost every college girl had his mobile number), and Lande landed at the spot within minutes. The girl was rescued while the molesters absconded, only to be captured by Lande's team within a week.
When he was not rescuing fair maidens, Lande was cracking down on spurious drugs, pirated DVDs, cosmetics and spurious edible items.
The son of a farmer, he studied throughout on scholarships. An engineering grad, he quit IRS to join IPS in 2006. His crackdown on spurious drugs, cosmetics and edible items; his 24X7 availability on phone and promptness to rescue damsels in distress; his raids on shady cybercafes and his 'Dabangg'-like strictness in dealing with the high and mighty violating traffic rules saw him rise and shine in the eyes of the citizens.
Lande donates 60% to 70% of his pay to the Sangathan which organizes mass marriages of poor girls and runs coaching classes and a hostel for students in Akola to "aid them realize their dreams".

Many people remember a fallen soldier as a person in uniform.
Sometimes that soldier is the four legged friend who saved your life
by being a bomb-sniffing dog and finding the IED and warns you about
it before it explodes. This is a sad but beautiful picture of pure
respect for 2 fallen heroes.

Re: Photos - From Around the WORLD
Subhasini Mistry , a resident of Hanspukur, 24 Parganas(South), West Bengal lost her husband due to medical negligence in the year 1971. Left alone and without any proper source of income to support the children, she had to work as a housemaid, a manual labourer and a vegetable seller for 20 years and managed to save Rs. 100,000/-.Then, with the help of community workers and neighbours, she was able to make a doctor of her son, Ajoy .She dared to dream beyond her means to build a hospital for the underprivileged. She bought a plot of land at Hasnapukur in the interiors of Thakurpukur where the most of the people is of poor category. Her dreams come into reality after opening a small clinic in a small hut and thus the hospital saw the day of light. As she was dreaming for the sake of humanity, it was christened as Humanity Hospital, managed by Humanity Trust, registered under Indian Trust Act in the year 1993, I.T. Act in the year 1994 and F.C.R. Act in the year 1995.

Racetrack Playa in California is well known due to its sailing stones. No one knows how, but the stones there somehow manage to move from their original position, leaving a track behind them. The reasons are still unknown and are subject of research. It is supposed that the winds in the valley are “responsible” for this.

The Dog who saved its owner after a collapse calling 911
#Truly a Man's best-friend..!!!
Buddy, a dog specially trained to call 911 when his owner suffers seizures grabbed the phone and whimpered for help. Stalnaker said he trained the animal to recognize when he had a seizure and respond by grabbing the phone and bringing it to him. When Buddy hears the operator, he puts the phone down and whimpers as if he was in distress. The 911 system matches the call to the address and dispatches emergency help. Buddy rode in the ambulance with Stalnaker to the hospital, and both were back home two days later.
