Re: Tennis - ATP/WTA
Recalling the earlier discussions on Laver, found this rare clip of a match he played against Borg in 1976. He was 38 and in semi retirement while Borg was already the reigning tennis champion. I reckon he gave a good account of his ability and athleticism even this late in the match.
Interestingly, Laver won 45 titles after he turned 30. His win loss % during the Open Era, which began when he was 29 getting to 30, was 80%, which places him seventh in the all time open era charts, ahead of Pete Sampras.

Interesting also to note that Borg used to hit those amazing improvised shots off lobs with those racquets.

Hoping for a good US Open showing now, but the finish was not great. Once again surrendered the second set to Ferrer. Still for somebody purportedly lacking mental toughness (if you ask Rafa fans, that is), winning an ATP 1000 title at the age of 33 is simply amazing. Like Connors and Agassi before him, he is going to be one of the grand old men of tennis, evergreen and ageless.

Has appeared in the year ending finals 13 straight times, another staggering testimony to his domination and endurance.

Sam Stosur put up a serve clinic, even going serve volley at times to down WTA's latest punching bag Eugenie Bouchard 6-2 6-2. This time, unlike the Wimb final, the match did breach the 1 hour mark, though not by a whole lot. Stacey Allaster must be a worried woman.
