Sri Rama Rajyam - Maestro's masterpiece

This is one of my most favorite Raja soundtrack, not just in recent times. I make it a point to listen to this album at-least once a day since it was released. I think this is Maestro's stunning masterpiece and can easily occupies Maestro's all time top slot. Not just the songs, the SRR is more about the background score. I have started putting my thoughts about this film's background in my blog and would like to share with you all here. It has some 28 excellent piece of music, I have so far covered 5 pieces, yet to cover a lot.

Great going V_S. I want this forum to be a lot more free, even with the languages. As long as they are meant to be cheerful, not to offend others. And not too graphic. And just focus on Raja. We can start other threads for Raja fans to discuss like general music topics. Thanks, don't be disheartened if this is slow, we need time to grow. And we are not rivalling the other forums either, this is just for the small group of us (even if I am not a hardcore fan now, I was, like Kamal, and am not letting these people who helped to define my taste for art and music go).

V_S, padichAchu. As usual, wonderful analysis. Good to see two of my ex-crushes here. Yes, I was smitten by Roja back then, and then, of course, Nayan. Though these days I view Nayan and her eyelash as adequately talented actress(es). Keep going buddy.

Thanks grouch! Aha, yes Roja has a seducing eyes which I remember talking about it among our friends. and now Nayan's eye-lashes. That was great catch. Her performance in SRR stands out easily among her peers.

Next one on a positive note for the first time in SRR. Sita's worries gone (at-least now) when she starts a fresh new life in the ashram. Sage Valmiki inviting her to the ashram. Excellent musical arrangements in this episode. From a single flute to a thundering climax!.

We are into the intermission of the movie with SPB's stunner of a (short) song (not in the original soundtrack). Maestro going wild with thunder, lightning, swords, fire, water sounds with some terrific percussions all packed to unearth a captivating melody, all in this episode.

We are into the 14th episode. One of my favorite mainly for the amount of detail went into this piece (I still can't believe even now) and for introducing a totally different flavor of

15th episode - People repents to Rama. The highlight is how Maestro uses one of the cues from Ramayanamu Sri Ramayanamu song (different one from the previous episode) in this score, but very brief.

16th episode - Lava-Kusa Leaves for Ayodhya. Brilliant usage of veena and oboe throughout. Wonderful scene and a chance to look into Sita's heart through Maestro's musical eyes.

17th episode: Lava-Kusa meet Rama. A meditative score by Maestro. One of the best ever score. Excerpt here:

"I can sense that this scene alone is a film by itself and this music itself is an encyclopedia of emotions. For once, please try to mute the dialogues in your head and try to just feel the music. We can feel each and every dialogue was presented by Maestro through his music. With Maestro, more than just underlining/enhancing the scene with his score, it also serves as a pure visual medium when we close our eyes and listen to it. All the emotions are brought out in front of us even if visuals are shut-off. Such is the unlimited power of Maestro’s score. I can challenge any composer if they can come at-least 1% closer to what Maestro has composed. It is unfortunate that in India there is no tradition to market background score like this marvel for people to really know what they are missing and what needs to be truly appreciated. Maestro’s scores are true reflections of creative art. Without his works, art is handicapped."
