Re: Cricket - FOREVER
Watching both AUS vs SA and IND Vs ENG. What contrasting matches and performances!. SA playing superbly (I don't care even if they lose) to save a test match that too away from home, while India are playing aimlessly to lose a test match, that too at their home.

Re: Cricket - FOREVER
I am actually feeling good. I think this was needed to show what VVS and Dravid meant to this team, and ofcourse, this is what happens when our GOD(SRT) fails to perform.
indha oru vishayathukku I miss the Dhoni fans from other forum - lucky phlows they escaped just when their thalaivar is brutally exposed. I think it is clear to all now that when it comes to test-worthiness and test captaincy, "Dhoni has no clothes". Even a 3-1 win now cannot change that. innamum valikkAdha mAdhiriyE MSD nadikkaRApla. THat is unfortuntely N Seenu mAma kodukkum dhairyam.
Anyway, I am actually beginning to like this England team, even Cook. konjam nyAyamAna ALA dhAn theriyaRAn. With KP, Monty, the team is actually getting likeable genuinely(not chatterjee). P_R would have been happy to hear this hmmm.. unfortunately, not in a position to discuss with him in detail . indha ENgland teamukku mangaLam undAgattum endru manasAra vaazhthugiREn
Meanwhile, TN Trouser kazhandiruchu Delhila

^ VVS would have activated beast mode on that wicket, Captain fool deserves a whole lot more for not taking his call.
guess CF/his fans are in ezharai phase, with Eden curator/Gangs @ the helm wouldn't be surprised if they dish out a green-top
to get even. already see the warning signs

still remember the green carpet which welcomed Dravid's team when Gangs was dropped unceremoniously

TN mirrors the frailties of the national side, D(k) the only saving grace Mukundan is going through a horror.

"I have already started preparation for the pitch for the third Test between India and England. To me, a good Test match pitch means a hard turf with a tinge of green. If the team management wants a turning track, it has to come from the board in writing."

Re: Cricket - FOREVER
AF - unfortunately for you you started watching from the waxing phase of India with SRT at helm of it.
I started watching in late 80s - specifically, the Bangalore test in 1987 (Gavvy's last) which we lost by 17 runs to Pakistan narrowly on a spinning monster of a pitch. Oru tour-nu pAkka Arambichadhdu Gooch's 333 match. My first full tour was Aus 1991-92 followed by weld cup 92. edhaiyum thaangum idhayam - idhellAm jujubee..I have ironed myseelf to reset the clock to the 90s when we were crappO crappu!

Re: Cricket - FOREVER
Oh I've been in crappo crap 90's. But even then we were good in test series(es) at home. Cronje gang had to suffer the first loss at the hands of India in 96/97. Aus lost to us in 1998 2-1. Even we drew against Pak 1-1 in 1999. Nobody won against us at home in the 90's. But this is worse.
Thank god we've won the first test match of this series. O/w it would be 2-0 already.

Re: Cricket - FOREVER
Plum, Dravid was the captain then..lolworthy batting order got all the Guru Greg's imprints
AF,concur.. 90s was so much better, this ought to be the worstu phase in Indian cricket ever, least in 90s we had spinners who could bowl on dust bowls/rooted out opposition within 3-4 days routinely/bats like Sidhu/Azhar who relished batting on them and ofcourse the genius of Sach to fall back upon when the going got tough. now we have a kaptaan who wouldn't get into any international test team either as a pure keeper nor as a batsman been given a free rein on all things and has powers to pull the plug on those who threaten/undermine his stature(read Jimmy Amarnath/Sehwag/ATG)
always wondered why Yuvi/Raina are hellbent on proving their non-existent test match credentials, they ought to take a cue from certain Ajay Jadeja who slipped out willingly from test side when he realized his game wasn't cut for test cricket.
Compton looking at ease against spin than odi g8 kohls is a worrying trend

ulladhai solvaen sonnadhai seiyvaen vaerondrum thaeriyadhu
"It was two Tests in which we didn't fare to well, but it wasn't for a lack of trying. Just like the batsmen try to score a century in every Test, we (bowlers) also aim for five wickets or more - especially against the best teams in the world in one of the toughest touring destinations," Sports24 quoted Steyn, as saying.
South Africa will surrender their No 1 Test ranking to the home side if they lose the final Test, and Steyn said that thought has spurred the bowlers to up their performances.
"There's a lot more urgency because we realise the whole series now depends on what happens in the next five days. Hopefully we can get our bowling right from the get go in Perth,"

Re: Cricket - FOREVER
this fight was good..
Dawson started cautiously but Freddie was too aggressive and wanted to knock Dawson out badly.. Freddie fell down in the 2nd round but got back on his feet quick. Won the fight 39-38 on scores..

Tholanjan Kallis. The cricinfo jinx worked.
"Has anyone else noticed that Kallis is very close to a major milestone? Hope I haven't jinxed him now!" Colin, we know of the approaching 13,000, and no you can't jinx him. If not now, he will do it in the next series.
