Good number, but awfully picturized.

It turns out that this movie has LONG been in the pipeline (2015) but is seeing the light of the day only in 2021, 6 years later!

Though I wish IR had better offers so he could avoid such lousy movies, I do feel happy that at least he is NOT idle and doing something that he does best. I wonder what the new-gen directors are doing, by purposely avoiding him. I mean, apocalypse will not befall Planet Earth, if each one of them collaborates with IR, for at least a couple of movies. After all, they all are happy to settle for inferior or average music and patiently wait for several months to get the same; so what is the big deal if they work with IR?! It remains a mystery.

I am equally dismayed by such 'AruvaaL' films that he signs :-) He tells Kamal that he has no role in Virumaandi which is full of blood and violence and now this!

The new directors in Tamil have egos bigger than an achiever like Raja. Forget dreaming about such collaboration. In my view, he should shift focus to good movie makers who make good films on YT and other Streaming Platforms. Films, theatre, hero worship, all this is bound to change after this pandemic. There is a lot of good streaming content today and not this stupid caste politics, violence and bloodshed.

Alternatively, he should look at signing up with Amazon or NetFlix, as Amazon already has a music service and NetFlix will soon follow.

After asking you not to dream, why am I dreaming? Getting on top of technology and platforms - that's not a Raja thingy.

IR could be of the feeling (psychologically), that being in the studio with "any kind of" work is far better than sitting at home. SAD situation.

You could add nearly ALL of them in the industry having bigger ego than a super-achiever like IR. But it becomes an unspeakable, unpardonable sin only if IR has it!

Maybe, IR is open to bigger, better projects but who will give him one is the billion-dollar question.

Collaborating with an Amazon or a NetFlix will remain a pipe dream for IRFs like us, because those are giant sharks whose only mantra is money, and IR is still an old-school, no-nonsense and straightforward person, which is unlike others in the same line of career. Also, age factor is always a disadvantage.

You have nailed it with the last sentence. That is NOT how cookies crumble in the world of IR. But, IMHO, he has the ability to break barriers with little fillip somewhere, sometime in the form of someone.

Yes, as you said, nobody cares for soulful, emotional and long-lasting music. It is all about making it "viral", hit billion views on YouTube and run away with the money to make another mediocre one.

And certainly these people make those eyesore 1980's songs look better!

Anju gajam is a 1990's number from the movie Raasa Magan.

As many of us IRF's are reminded of the 'anju gajam' song (obviously only a small portion resembles it but since that is the very first start of the song all of us are commenting about it - i.e. anju gajam kAnchi pattu = thattipputtA thattipputtA but after that it takes a different path), let me post the video of that rAsA magan song here (first time watch for me):

Certainly, but it is sad to note that those songs had little to no takers back then.

Yes app, as I had mentioned, only the opening of "thatiputtA" resembles "anju gajam". After that, it veers off in a different direction. BTW, I have heard the song getting some air time at Coimbatore radio station. A lively, peppy one.

For a moment, I thought Ranjith was about to work with IR, following Vetrimaaran. Looks more like the ordinary Madurai Manikuravan type of a movie, sadly. Always makes me wonder what is it exactly that makes them all keep IR at bay, when they happily choose or gleefully go gaga for inferior music of "current-generation" music directors. Better he or anyone else do not come up a decade later like director Kalanjiyam to say "Oh, we were 'afraid' of him just by looking at his stature and genius. That is why".

Fantastic tune and guitar chords. The only problem is a bad singer like YSR. Any half decent singer would have elevated this song through the sky.
