Album not in stock anywhere now sadly.  It's a pretty bold attempt at fusion considering it was 1968. I am curious now whether Salil Chaudhry also tried his hand at such 'independent' albums because he was very passionate about WCM.  Lovely saxophone and piano on Raga Jazz.

It is a very good album. I discovered it few years ago. 

Jazz was never done before aa? :-D Know what, this is one of the reasons why I do not argue much with such kind of fans. Waste of time and energy, and I genuinely feel some pity. Oh yes, at times i too feel the rush to correct the perceptions that get spread as facts.. but seriously, it is a pointless exercise.

I didn't bother to correct that commentor either, just amused at their propensity to attribute firsts to ARR. As long as they don't claim he invented jazz!
That reminds me, few years back this guy who's a rock/jazz listener said something like why don't film music directors come up with jazz songs like sillunu oru kadhal? I had suggested Kurangu Kaiyil Malai to him; never got back though.

A rare case of a non-IR song with SPB-Uma Ramanan combo...

Landed on this number after rozavasanth posted a number of TR youtubes on twitter



This song was a favourite of my roommate during bachelor days and he had a big double cassette player (BPL-Sanyo MW220K, terrific sounding speakers for that time period) and this song used to thunder in that room!

That way it made into my favourite TR songs' list (top of that list is இந்திர லோகத்து சுந்தரி)...
