Album not in stock anywhere now sadly.  It's a pretty bold attempt at fusion considering it was 1968. I am curious now whether Salil Chaudhry also tried his hand at such 'independent' albums because he was very passionate about WCM.  Lovely saxophone and piano on Raga Jazz.

Want to check how Sathyan Anthikkad's next film music was? Film name: Oru Indian Pranayakatha. Music by Vidyasagar. Omanappoove and Shyamameghame are good. Omanappoove start with auto-tune is unsahikkable, otherwise good.

Shyamameghame by Chitra is special: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OC4EZ_su-Bg

It is a very good album. I discovered it few years ago.

Jazz was never done before aa? :-D Know what, this is one of the reasons why I do not argue much with such kind of fans. Waste of time and energy, and I genuinely feel some pity. Oh yes, at times i too feel the rush to correct the perceptions that get spread as facts.. but seriously, it is a pointless exercise.

I didn't bother to correct that commentor either, just amused at their propensity to attribute firsts to ARR. As long as they don't claim he invented jazz!
That reminds me, few years back this guy who's a rock/jazz listener said something like why don't film music directors come up with jazz songs like sillunu oru kadhal? I had suggested Kurangu Kaiyil Malai to him; never got back though. Sad

all those Rahman talks in the other thread pushed me towards Rahman compositions,

this morning woke up with an atmospheric Rahman's sarod and arabian rhythm with flute melancholy, claps, invigorating strings & wonderful lyrics.
Evano oruvan......Late Swarna.
Captivating Charukesi alaap with symphonic strings from piano Rahman's edho edho..... U18E20 - longing romantic mood! I love you

Thoda thoda ....Kedar delight nostalgic , childhood love composition with lovely flute and whistle & theatrical strings melancholy
and Vairamuthu's
Panithanil Kulitha Paalmalar Kaana
Irubathu Vasanthangal Vizhi Valarthen
Pasiththavan Amutham Parugidaththaane
Pathinezhu Vasanthangal Ithazh Valarththen
Ilai Moodum Malaraaga Ithayathai Maraikkaadhe
Malar Kollum Kaatraaga Ithayathai Ulukkaadhe
Couldn't snap out of Vintage Rahman! I love you
Hope Rahman return back to San Jose with his live orchestra & recreate the magic I experienced more than a decade back at Cow Palace concert.

Man, all time favourite Beatles, couldn't possibly name one song.  So many gems.  To keep it down to 10, Something, Because, Here Comes The Sun, Strawberry Fields, Tomorrow Never Knows, Day in a life, Penny Lane, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, All You Need Is Love, Eleanor Rigby.

Strawberry fields pushes the boundaries of rock and roll. One more Beatles and a Floyd to call it a day.

I was enjoying two compositions of Viswanathan while coming home this afternoon!
1. Oho ho ho Odum ennangale.... My all time favorite female solo ever!
Music flows like Nayagra falls , such a joyous composition with melodious flute, Xylophone and strings! rapid jadhi, lilting charanam tunes!

2. Siripil Undagum ragathiley.....
Susheela's second charanam tune is fantastic!

True unsung heros of Indian films! I love you
Film Music composers & their team!

Searching for SPB songs from Gemini Ganesan movies, landed on this link:
http://inbaminge.com/t/a/Agathiyar/

Amazing songs - remember hearing these songs so often during childhood / school days from loudspeakers everywhere!

All the singers and Kunnakkudi are to be applauded for such a monster of an album!

A rare case of a non-IR song with SPB-Uma Ramanan combo...

Landed on this number after rozavasanth posted a number of TR youtubes on twitter Smile

This song was a favourite of my roommate during bachelor days and he had a big double cassette player (BPL-Sanyo MW220K, terrific sounding speakers for that time period) and this song used to thunder in that room!

That way it made into my favourite TR songs' list (top of that list is இந்திர லோகத்து சுந்தரி)...
